Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Yeah, I have come to the sad conclusion that I am calling off getting into a full-on franchise commitment until the second patch hits. Just too many errors going on that are causing my team to blow leads. I will just chill for now and wait to see what happens

I wonder about a couple things. AI Aggression as I understand it causes hitters to take more pitches rather than swinging away on everything. What adjustments are needed to make the batter swing at pitches outside the zone. I pretty much ignore my catcher if he is way outside the zone because I figure it is just a wasted pitch at that point. So besides nibbling the corners all the time, is there a fix coming for this issue?

Also, for the love of god, what can prevent the computer infield from making sooooo many great diving stops, getting to their feet and throwing me out at first? Its like playing against the all-time defense team every game. Surely not every infielder has the ability to wing it to first in time?

    Thanks!

Hopefully I said that correctly without confusing you... lol

As for the PATCH. No one really knows how the PATCH is gonna affect game play. Right now I'm worried about how the Living Rosters are affecting game play
This is why I make the changes in franchise and use 3 to 4 games as a "judge" before I decide what I want to change.

I have a "dummy" franchise I tinker in.

When you say "dummy" franchise, you mean you are using the Pittsburgh Pirates or the Kansas City Royals? HAHAHA! See, now I get all snarky when I can't play my franchise.

        Let's go patch!

If you want to see looking strikes, then in my opinion waste pitches when you're up in the count are crucial. If I get up 0-2 or 0-1 then they will not going to see any ball they can drive, rather a fastball way up and away or a slider in the dirt. If you are constantly throwing strikes, even when ahead in the count, then the AI hitters are going to be swinging away knowing they can make contact with whatever you throw.

Thanks man, I had a slider set on here last year that played a great game of ball... Ill mess with some sliders and hopefully can add something to your guys hard work..

LoL and i know the hard work you guys put in because i was obsessed with tweaking sliders last year. Anyways im sure a few of you do this but i like to put a slider at 0 or 100 when im first trying to see how much of an effect it has.

This is an excellent point. Last night I actually trusted the catcher a few times and was pleasantly surprised to see hitters swinging wildly outside of the zone...and also have seen a few more looking strikes. Now if only I can settle down my closers.....have blown two leads in a row.

Yeah, they need to fix the Papelbon glitch. I take Lester out after 8 innings of 4 hit ball and a 3-0 lead, and the ninth inning turns into a merry-go-round with Papelbon giving up hit after hit after hit, and my 3-0 lead evaporates into a 3-5 deficit and another loss.

yeah, that is the kinda stuff that I am talking about. I had K-Rod blow a gem by Santana by giving up two runs in the 8th...only to have him blow another 2 run lead that I gave him in the 9th.

And I know that these are pressure situations...but for guys who are trained to close (especially top-flight closers), it seems a bit odd that their composure is so low and the aim is bouncing all over the place.

Just like last year i have turned off HUM composure because of these problems. 2 Run lead in 9th and god for bid KROD gives up 1 single cause now he loses ALL composure and cant find the zone. Pretty sure hes trained better than that

the what now? Where is that? Although that is a feature I would like to have for the starters who are on fumes.

                            Truth.
It particularly bugs me when you bring in the closer with a guy on in the 9th or something and the ball indicator is already bouncing like a frog on a hot plate. I mean seriously, these are guys who make a career out of facing pressure situations.

Or worse, the ball indicator is bouncing around, I do a mound visit and manage to calm the pitcher, he then gets that batter out so he should be relaxed, right? But the ball indicator starts bouncing around again for the next batter before a pitch is thrown.

I like the idea of the pressure and the bouncing-around ball, but it's waaayyyy over used.

hey, a couple more random questions (because you guys are really nice and actually answer them for me)

1). When 2nd patch comes out, do I need to start a new season, or does it just kick in?

2). One thing I really miss about MVP 2005 was the ability to chart previous pitches and locations. I know there is that feature where you buy the scouting for the other team, does purchasing that unlock this ability

3). Any simple way to find the opposing pitcher fatigue/composure/pitch count?

                              Thanks again all!

When the patch comes out you do not need to start over.

I dont beleive you can track previous pitches this year

Fatigue and Composure for CPU is ont he D pad when your batting, no luck on pitch count, gotta go to box score for this info, horrible

and to answer your previous question about composure, go to sliders and turn the slider down to 0 for HUM and/or CPU
