Good job Joe and everyone making this game enjoyable. Regarding the AI aggressiveness issue and using IE when pitching. Are you going to the IE report (D-pad) or using the pitch zone overlay that appears briefly at the beginning of the CPU's at bat? Often times, they don't give you the same hot and cold zones. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
JBH3 I think the only way to make pitching more "random" in the placements and not so pin point. Would be to turn on the 3 stage pitching. It has the time release which juges your accuracy. Then jack up the pitch meter sliders. Make the meter alot quicker should bring more random pitches.
Just a thought. I have not tried that pitching method yet. But it might work.
Now once you get the timing down misses like that would be less frequent, but it would probably be worth investigating if 3-step pitching with high settings for meter speed & release timing influence may indeed make us at least a little less accurate. I don't have much time to do real testing, so I'm hoping the OS faithful can take up the initiative!Comment

Isn't the IE Info from the D-PAD more about career tendencies, compared to the IE K-ZONE which is what the batter's tendency may be for that AB?
If you have some insight on this I would love to hear-itComment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I finally got a chance to play the retail version of the game last night, well 3 innings anyways... I used the 3-step pitching as I didn't like the 2-step pitching used in the demo. If you miss your release point, you will be wild. Catcatch22 has a thread (Pitching too easy!) concerning never completely missing your spot -- well I did this on several occasions yesterday. I'm talking aiming inside and missing up & away...

I guess maybe I should go back though, because I haven't gotten a good shallacking yet, and I haven't even been able to get Brad Lidge into a save situation. Every game I've won has been by more than 5 runs, and my only loss came on opening in a 2-0 shutout by Derek Lowe.
I'm 4-1 right now using the Phillies.Last edited by JBH3; 03-10-2009, 10:35 AM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I apologize if this is covered somwhere in here, but is there a way to get IE all the time? I keep reading about how great it is to use IE, but I thought you had to purchase it in your 'chise and I don't necessarily want to do that for every team. Maybe I'm missing something, sorry.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
- Not really a slider issue, but does anyone else get the feeling the CPU scripts what kind of inning it's going to have? Because I pitched a gem until the 6th when they opened the floodgates on me and they weren't even legit hits, I threw WAAAAAAY out of the strikezone and they were getting base knocks...Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I was hoping someone else was going to say this. This is infuriating. I played a game last night where I cruised along for the first 4 innings, and then in the 5th, I got the first two batters out and proceeded to give up 7 straight hits. They were hitting balls a foot outside, sliders on the hands, everything. I can't keep the CPU under a hit an inning, and I don't think I'm bad at pitching by any stretch of the imagination. It's really frustrating.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
great sliders man. Another great game.
Royals(me) vs the Rangers. Won 8-6 in the 10th inning
Royals
14 hits(9 singles, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 hrs)
3 walks
11 k's
1 error
77 strikes
23 balls
Rangers
9 hits(3 singles, 4 doubles, 2 hrs)
0 walks
5 k's
1 error
76 strikes
25 balls
This game plays really smooth with these.Comment

lantzbg, you may be on to something here. I personally haven't notice this I've used both @ the same time.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I've noticed several screens of info from the D-Pad (career tendencies, miss %, in play %, averages vs. pitch type, etc.). I've never noticed if any of the changes during an at bat. I've been mainly using the d-Pad IE because I was under the impression that the IE K-Zone was what the catcher suggested. Do you mainly use the IE K-Zone overlay? I need to do some experimenting with both strategies.

Same here. Why, oh, why would sports games do this? If I'm clobbering the CPU, I'm clobbering the CPU. Deal with it.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Ok So I have played about 8 games with these settings. I upped CPU power to 70 and CPU Success to 40 (maybe it is at 40 already).
I have been very please with the offense from my team. Hitting maybe a little too many HR's.
I'm worried about the CPU, I don't feel like I'm ever in trouble. I do work the count a lot and have had guys with horrible late swings for K's on fastballs which is cool.
I need a little more O out of the CPU I think.
Up the success rating?
Having a great time though. Howard is now getting intentionally walkedComment
