Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
They are fixing the schedule issue with the real time roster update. I wonder if they will be able to fix the aggression issue with just a simple roster fix? Would be niceComment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
OK I've updated the sliders on the 1st page. If you've downloaded V2 already just go in & make the the changes.
Game Settings
Fatigue: 50
Hitting
User Success: 40 Contact: 40 Power: 60
AI Success: 50 Contact: 35 Power: 65
AI Pitching
Pitch Success: 40
Strike Zone: 10
Fielding
Speed 55 (BOTH)
Again I think with these changes we should be good to go. The only other setting that might change is Pitch Speed (lower) but I have to do some testing. Something in my mind is telling me instead bumping the Contact & Power Slider up, all I should've done was lower the Pitch Speed down a little as therizing02 pointed out in his post
Oh the madness of the slider theory.....
BFJ
Just wanted to send a big kudo to you for working these sliders. Great job! After DL'ing V2, I wasn't getting much power but I think these latest changes will do the trick.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Joe...I still wasn't getting the results I wanted w/ the updated sliders. I was only able to get singles, and didn't seem to have any gap power. The CPU was only getting singles too, and w/ exception to a misplayed ball in the OF that went for a 3B, they would'nt of had any XBHs.
I made some adjustments to the following sliders and saw some great results (all other sliders are set to your spring training v.2).
Both HUM & CPU:
Batting Success (40)
Contact (30)
Power (65)
Errors (5)
HUM:
Batters Eye Influence (5)
Pitch Meter SPD (60)
Catcher Throw-out (55)
Baserunner SPD (55)
Something I noticed on stealing was that I was being called out, and on the replay was CLEARLY safe...I mean under the tag, foot on the bag before the SS was even trying to lay the tag down.
Question: Does the "Catcher Throw-out Success" slider have to do w/ how well the CPU can throw you out?
There doesn't seem to be a slider on the AI side that results in lowing the catchers ability to throw you out, and you had the slider mentioned set at 75. I'm wondering if it affects the effectiveness of the CPU, or determines the effectiveness of the CPU. Because I was cleary safe on three SBs after reviewing the replay, but was CS twice w/ Rollins and once w/ Victorino.
My results...
Opening day ATL vs PHI. Derek Lowe vs Cole Hamels.
ATL 2 9 0 - 1 XBH, 3B Omar Infante
PHI 09 0 - 1 XBH, 2B Ryan Howard
This was a pitchers duel (obviously). I had a chance to take a lead in the 1st, but thanks to TWO consecutive "bad" calls, Rollins was thrown out stealing 2nd, and Victorino was also (replays proved they were both safe). Rollins got aboard w/ a single, Victorino was walked. Utley would end up grounding out to end the inning.
Atlanta got on the board in the T6th after pulling Lowe for PH Omar Infante w/ runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Omar would hit a gapper that got misplayed at the wall by Victorino and resulted in a bases clearing triple. Those would be the only runs Hamels would give up.
Howard led off the B6th w/ a double, but Philly couldn't capitalize. I would threaten again in the 8th, when the top of the order came up but couldn't get a run across as Soriano and Gonzalez shut me down (CPU brought Gonzo in to face Utley and Howard - nice). Manny Acosta almost cost ATL the game after he walked me and hit a batter, and I had a guy on 1st and 2nd w/ 1 out - again couldn't captialize.
WP - Derek Lowe 6.0IP 1BB 6K (PC 69-48)
LP - Cole Hamels 7.0IP 2 BB 7K (PC 78-51)
There was a total of 133 pitches thrown by ATL, and 109 by me. ATL trotted out 4 pitchers (including Lowe), and the only reliever I ever brought in was Madson for the 8th and 9th.
2nd gm - Javier Vasquez vs Brett Myers
ATL 5 10 2 - XBH 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR
PHI 9 14 0 - XBH 3 2B, 3 HR
WP B. Myers 6.0 IP 9H 4ER 0BB 3K (PC 66-45)
LP J. Vazquez 4.0 IP 4H 3ER 2BB 1K (PC 57-37)
PC ATL (99-32); PC PHI (82-23)
Much different results in this one w/o that mean Derek Lowe sinker to have to deal w/.
B1st Rollins lead off the game w/ a walk, and then Victorino singled; runners on the corners. Utley strikes out looking, Howard flys out to shallow right - not testing Francouer's arm. Werth comes up w/ 2 outs w/ runners on the corners, and just when I think I'm going to waste another perfect opportunity to score after being shut-out on opening day Werth blasts a 2-1 fastball to RF (opposite field) for a 3 run laser-shot.
Myers was cruising through 4, and ran into trouble in the 4th after ATL scored 3 runs to tie it up. ATL took the lead in the T5th 4-3 on a single by Kelly Johnson and a triple by Escobar. However, I came back in the bottom of the 5th to take a 2 run lead after back to back doubles by Howard and Werth and then a single by Ibanez that scored Werth from second.
The 8th is where I blew it wide open w/ a solo shot by Howard (laser down RF line), and a two run shot by Ibanez (a shot to right-center w/ Werth on 1st). I would get another run in on a Gregg Dobbs single (as the PH for Madson w/ 2 outs) scoring Carlos Ruiz, Rollins ended the B8th and went 0-4 (He and Myers were the only Philly players to have an AB w/o a hit).
Chad Durbin came on to wrap this one up w/ a 9-4 lead, and his first pitch to Francouer was a bleacher shot to left. I thought..."oh here comes the comeback AI", but Durbin sat the next three batters down w/ his sinker and I got my first win of the season.

JBH3, I'm glad you adjusted the sliders to get a result you like. That exactly what I want. Remember everyone these sliders are really some what of a base than a FINAL VERSION.
They are there for you to tweak to your heart's content so you the user can achieve the game play experience you are looking for..Comment

I just need to figure the issue w/ stealing, because I've viewed the replays of the 3 times I attempted to steal 2nd but was thrown out, and on everyone I'm in there - clearly.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Yea...its playing a good game now. More along the lines of what I'm looking for, and your slider set has been a great base.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
i'm going to reduce pitcher fatigue even more..they're still getting tired way too fast imo. Other than that, i feel like the roster updates are changing the gameplay somehow...has anyone noticed that?
The cpu batting agression has gone up in my experience somehow.
anyway I'm still having good games which is the bottom line.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Had a good game last night using these.
Braves Franchise, 2nd game of season vs. phillies
Vazquez vs. Myers
Braves 4runs 10hits 1error
Phils 1run 5hits 0error
All runs were manufacturered except I hit a hanging curve ball way out in left with Frenchy.
Oh, and I walked SIX times that game. I played baseball for a long time and was a leadoff guy, high OBP, so I always take strike or two and I find that helps drawing walks.
I also struck out 6 people in 6 innings with vazquez, 8 people total for the game. I FROZE some people with back door sliders for called third strikes. Had probably 3 called third strikes on backdoor sliders. I blew a couple MAX fastballs by some people and the rest they chased a hook in the dirt or a slider off the plate.
I also walked...maybe two or three batters during the course of the game. Not bad. One I just didnt give in to ryan howard. First base was open so there's just no reason to pitch to that guy, he's a freaking monster.
Game is feeling pretty good.GamerTag: Blazzen85

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I would like to add, and I feel this deserves a seperate post...
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT THROW FIRST PITCH STRIKES. First pitch should be a waste pitch or something that starts in the zone and tails off. I find they're overally agressive especially on the first pitch and that's why people don't get strike outs, walks or higher pitch counts.
Gotta mix in enough balls to keep them on their toes guys, that is the key to the AI agression. Change speeds, locations and in and out of the strike zone.GamerTag: Blazzen85

yeah, i guess that would work.. it just sucks that we would have to potentially start batters with hitters counts everytime up, just to get a sense of realism.JUST WIN BABY!!Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Yeah stealing seems CPU heavy. I'm having a hard time throwing out the CPU & can't get a steal for the life of me. Even with a good jump, I've also seen what your talking about in reference to being clearly safe, yet being called out.
No AI Throwing Sliders is really annoying...
As far as stealing yourself make sure you get a big lead and take off on their first move. It's easy to get back if they try to pick you off it goes to a different angle of the pitcher before they throw 90% of the time so it's easy to get back.
Then again as I said earlier I was a leadoff guy back in my day so I had some base stealing training :wink:GamerTag: Blazzen85

If you use this approach you will see a somewhat different experience when Pitching against the AI, then if you don't use IEComment
