Here are the Hitting Sliders if anyone wants to test them-out:

    USER- Success 40, Contact 25, Power 100
    CPU- Success 50, Contact 50, Power 100

Then in the User Pitching Sliders do this:

Gesture Recognition 50, Hold Timing Influence 50

I'm still working on these sliders:

Pitcher Handedness Influence, Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence & Batting Pitch Influence.

I dropped them down to 65 across the board for the User & 75 across the board for the cpu & ended-up with a slugfest & a ton of HR's for 1 game (Indians & Yankees)

It seems like those sliders are very sensitive. Especially BPI Slider
    which is already @ 75.
    Hey BFJ,

I've been trolling this thread for quite some time, and I'm so glad that you've finally posted something about this.

Yesterday, after using your sliders for the first month of my Dodgers 'chise, I found (like many others) that there were a ton of hits per game, but very few extra base hits or Homers.

I then decided to make a hybrid slider set using components of yours and Guru's sliders. What I'm getting at is this: I too have began lowering batting success while raising the contact and power.

My current settings are as follows:

    Human:
    Batting Success: 40
    Contact: 30
    Power: 100

    CPU:
    Batting Success: 50
    Contact:20
    Power: 95

Coincidentally, this is going to be my first game using the Human sliders that I have listed above. I restarted my franchise, and I'm tweaked the sliders through the first seven games. I've slowly been lowering Success and increasing contact, and it's funny how I arrived pretty damn close to what you've been testing. Just shows your one step ahead of everybody else, ey???

I've been using the CPU sliders for the last five games, and I've finally been able to see realistic hit totals (between 5-8) and hit variety. I'm finally seeing some doubles and even a couple of triples being hit instead of the single-fest that this game has turned into. However, I'm still not seeing many HRs, so I may just switch to your new CPU sliders.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'll chime in from now on with stats, because I think that this new theory will hopefully bring us the level of enjoyment that we are all looking for.

    Cheers.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

cubsfan---I have games where I feel like that too. But then at some point in the next game or game after, I'll get a pitch, time it just right, and before I hear the crack, I know it's out. These remind me that there is a science to this.

When i said timing, I meant that it is absolutely crucial when you swing. I mean down to the last milisecond. If you are just a little bit off, you can fly out, or maybe line drive instead of taking one past the fences. I find fastballs the easiest to do this with. I know you think you're perfectly timing it, but unless you are using a very weak team, I would bet that you are slightly mistiming it OR chasing pitches out of the zone or in your weak spot (see below).

Just as important as timing, you need to wait for a pitch in your wheelhouse. IE plays a big role in this game, so if the pitcher is pitching you up and in and you have a weak spot there, it doesn't matter if you time it just well, because it would have to be perfect to get a HR in that location. Instead, you really have to work the count, or jump on that mistake pitch that is left out over the middle.

I find that in general in this game, if I'm not hitting well, it's because I'm getting good contact on pitches that are in tough spots. When I get more patient, take that first pitch (or two!), the same swings against worse pitches produce much better results. Good luck

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Sigh....I just can't seem to make hitting difficult enough, without making it where I can't get but 2 hits a game, every game

I'm playing as the Yanks, and I'm 10-3, losing 2 to Tampa (both 2-1), and once to Cleveland (4-3)

In my 13 games, I'm averaging 6.8 runs, on 13.67 hits , and hitting .344 as a team, with 19 HR and 85 runs scored. I've only gotten under 10 hits in a game twice (both 2-1 losses to the Rays, where I had 8 each game). I'm DESPERATELY HOPING that my inflated stats are due to 3 games vs lesser teams such as Bal, KC, and 4 vs CLE...

My most recent game (an 8-4 win (14 hits) vs Cle ), I played with USER success/contact/power at 40/30/90.

It seems every game I play, I have a HUGE inning, where I tally 4(ish) runs, on 6(ish) hits, which totally inflate my stats and team's collective batting avg. I've got the pitcher composure influence at 80, is this too high, resulting in, once he gets "rattled", I am able to gap everything off of him?

Opinions/suggestions wanted...please offer up fellas! Thanks!

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Your home runs per game is actually a very solid amount. You are on pace for about 236 home runs, which is around the number that elite teams achieve. I believe the Yankees are very highly rated, so the homer numbers are right on pace.

The problem.... The team BA, runs, and the W/L record is high, I agree. You're on pace for 124 wins. And the best teams in baseball average around 5 and a half runs per game or so. And, as I'm sure you know, the best teams BA is around .290 for a full year.

                  RE: pitcher composure
YES! That would be my suggestion. I use pitcher composure right around 35-40. At 80, as soon as a runner reaches base, it is almost automatic that a shelling is about to occur. Keep in mind that this probably will impact everything else (your homers, hits per game, batting average), though.

Curious to hear what camera settings for batting you guys are using (I know there's a post about this in the main forum, but would rather hear from those using these sliders). I'm using the default, and I have no patience at all; I find myself swinging 95% of the time on all pitches. Has anyone found some ideal settings that make it easier to read pitches out of the zone?

I think I've got mine down pretty good. I made a few changes to these sliders and switched over to swing stick hitter and it made a big difference. I'm now able to hit homers and not have so many weak outs. Now I just need some time to tweak my rosters and I'll finally be ready to start my franchise.

i'm using your sliders BFJ but how do I limit hits? I'm getting 12+ hits a game. I've tried putting contact at 0 and batter success as low as 40 but my guys are still shelling the ball. I just played a 4 game set against the o's and one game against the Twins and the lowest amount of hits I got was 13 with a normal amount of doubles and homers. how do I limit my amount of overall hit production?

                            success-50
                            contact-10

Lower pitch zone tendency, raise pitch speed!!

You can probably just lower pitch zone tendency and raise cpu pitching success a notch or two.

I see. Increasing pitch speed does little because once I adjust I get the same results. cpu strike zone tendency is at zero but i'll definitly raise cpu pitch success and lower pitch zone tendency. Thanks!
