Sac bunt up to 75 since I had pitchers swinging away in bunting situations.

hit and run to 75 just for the hell of it haha. trying to see the cpu actually use it.

      Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Alright, to be truthful I have never taken part in one of these forums due to the fact that I have felt it was a waste of time. Furthermore, I used to be a big gamer back in HS and early college but have not played much aside from NBA 2k9 a few years back. However, I ADORE baseball and my favorite game of all time is MVP 2005. I have not bought a baseball game since the series was discontinued but chose to buy 2k10 because I missed it. I have been enjoying playing it and I want to thank you guys for these outstanding sliders.

I had probably played about 7 or 8 games to that point on All star default sliders and was 2 and 6. I was for the most part playing with mid market teams against fellow mid market teams and the games were for the most part competitive and realistic. I implemented these sliders this morning and played with a premium team opposed by a lower level team. Yankees vs Bluejays.

I wanted to test whether or not I could win a game that should be won, because I had never really had a favorited team in the previous games. I HAD A BLAST. It was the most realistic and satisfying game I have played since beating the Nuggets with the Blazers in the final game of my 2k9 franchise to win the division and squeeze into the playoffs before being swept by the Lakers. That is neither here nor there though. lol

My results for the game if you guys would like to know.

      Sabathia vs Romero

CC went 8 innings with 4 k's, one BB and threw up 79 pitches

****now I know you guys have been upset with the user pitch counts and I agree that it does need a little more variability BUT it really does depend on how you attack hitters. If I wanted to get more K's and did succeed, my count would have been higher. I was getting ahead and inducing ground balls. Now if I would have been pitching with AJ burnett, I would have attacked hitters differently and will test that out in the next game.

Romero went 4 innings, gave up 4 runs on five hits, 3 bb and hit a batter. He finished with 91 pitches.

*****They took him out to start the fifth and threw in frasor who finished the game with 62 pitches.

**Note he didn't pitch a ninth inning because of their loss and given the fact they were the away team.

The Yankees had a total of 6 runs on 8 hits, 3 BB and two bean balls (both on poor Swish).

The Jays had a total of 1 run on 6 hits

In total, the game was remarkably realistic, with the Yankees wearing down the Blue Jays pitching with great patience, timely hitting and a wonderful performance by CC.

The moment, and I know you guys will know what I'm talking about, when I was really taken aback, and realized that this is going to be a great game was in the 4th inning I believe. I had just singled and BB with Swisher and Gardner and Jeter was stepping to the plate. He was 0-2 at that point with a pair of groundouts and I knew that this was an important point in the game for me, a chance to break it open with the Yankee icon and captain. I locked in, took 2 close pitches to work the count to 2-0. On the third pitch I got a fastball up on the outside corner, recognized it right away as a meatball and Jeter swiftly deposited it, vintage DJ, into the right field grandstands. Yankees 4-0. Game Over!

Tremendous moment, offically the one in which I became a staunch supporter of MLB 2k10. Lets keep it going boys, there is a little tinkering that needs to be done on our part and their part( 2ksports) but this has the makings of a truly glorious game.

Valid question to which I do not know the answer. Will require some testing. It is too difficult for users to steal and too easy for the cpu to do so.

          Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Played a couple games. Sliders still feel pretty solid. Getting good variety of games and I think I'm hovering around .500 as far as wins/losses (total).

          Braves 11 20 0 - 18 singles, 1 double, 1 HR, 4bb 5ko, 128 pitches
          Padres 3 8 0 - 5 singles, 1 double, 1 triple, 1HR, 2bb, 11ko, 132 pitches

Shelled the Padres. Dinked and dunked them to death. Singles just kept dropping in.

At this point I decided to start a franchise and mess around. I'll probably restart it once the rosters come out but I wanted to see what it was all about.

          Lowe vs. Lilly
          Braves 2 9 0 - 8 singles, 1 HR, 2BB, 10KO, 102 pitches thrown
          Cubs 0 5 0 - 4 singles, 1 double, 1 walk, 6ko, 109 pitches

Lowe threw a complete game shutout. He was dog tired by the end of the game but the cubs just could not center any of Lowe's pitches. I don't think it was that I pitched THAT well, Cubs just couldnt hit.

          Hudson vs. Sanchez
          Braves 8 15 0 - 8 singles, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 3 HR, 4BB, 4KO
          Giants 2 8 0 - 7 singles, 1 homerun, 1 BB, 5KO

Knocked Sanchez out in the 4th and their relivers werent much better. They were either wild out of the zone or wild in the zone. Resulted in some grooved pitches went off and over the wall for triples and homeruns.

          -------------------------

On a separate note, the pitcher fatigue issues with the cpu stem from a bug i believe. CPU pitcher fatigue seems to reset. Lilly threw into the 8th, 100+ pitches and had full stamina. Wondering if once it goes to a certain level if thats when it resets. Hopefully they get this in the patch. 60 pitcher fatigue means pulling a pitcher around 80 pitches. This is a pretty good number since these games dont see the same pitch counts as real MLB games do.

I'm starting to see lower cpu run totals. I may look at raising user pitcher composure influence or some other user pitching sliders to help the cpu score a bit more. I don't think the issue is the cpu hitting sliders - i think user pitcher composure influence would help the cpu string hits together better as the user pitcher gets rattled quicker. Going to play a few more games before I do this though. Also have to consider the Braves have a pretty solid pitching staff.

            Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Just played Dodgers vs. Yanks. I got dominated by CC. I really have to start using my second controller to make the pitching matchups more even, because it's giving me uncommon results when I don't. It seems like I've gotten dominated the past three or four games I've played. Then again, I went up against Wainwright, Carpenter, Verlander, and CC. All of them are great pitchers. Three of them are aces. Anyway, here are the stats.

            Final Box Score:

            NYY: 2 8 0 - 8 Singles
            LAD: 1 4 0 -3 Singles, 1 Double

            Win: Sabathia - 8 IP, 4 Hits, 1 Run, 1 ER, 0 BB, 11 K, 116 Pitches
            Loss: Stults - 6 IP, 6 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 82 Pitches
            Save: Rivera

            Game Notes:

Again, I feel like I haven't much to talk about the last few games because they've turned out to be pitcher-dominant performances for the most part. The Yankees got a run in the top of the first, then they got an insurance run in the 5th on an RBI single by Jeter. I scored Casey Blake from first on an RBI double to the right field gap by Russell Martin in the bottom of the 5th. I threatened to tie it in the bottom of the 8th when I got Martin to third with 2 outs, but I grounded out with Furcal to end the inning.

            Extra Notes:

I've began to see the same trend as Blazzen, as the CPU is not scoring as many runs as I feel they should be. I also agree with Blazzen in that I don't think this has as much to do with the CPU hitting sliders as it has to do with their inability to string hits together to sustain any rallies. If you'll notice the stats from my previous games, the CPU hitting "NUMBERS" are statistically on par with real-life. However, their run totals are on the low side. In my recent experience, it seems like everytime the CPU has men on base and are threatening to score, I always end up getting an easy out or a double play. I think that Blazzen has a good point in suggesting that we begin tweaking the user Pitcher Composer Influence slider. Like he said, if the User pitcher gets rattled, it might make CPU rallies a bit more common than previous games.

I played the Yankees because I was actually sick of pitcher's duels. I wanted to see some offense by at least one team, so I even started Stults against a very high-powered Yanks offense. Being that they only scored 2 runs against my fifth starter (candidate), I think it is reasonable to believe that something needs to change. Who knows? This might even help with user pitch count!

            Any thoughts?

            Cheers.

              Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Just played my first game with these sliders. I played today's matchup as the Cardinals against the Marlins. It was a pitchers duel until the 5th when Florida broke it open with about 5 runs. They immediately went from taking alot of pitches to swinging at absolutely anything. I had to quit in the 7th(wife had supper ready), but when I quit, the line was:

              STL: 1--4--0
              FLA: 6--12--0

Pretty realistic for the most part. Pitch counts were pretty realistic. I worked quite a few counts against Nolasco. In the 7th, he was close to 90 pitches. I cant remember what Wainright had.

Up until this point, I had always played with Pitch Speed at 60, but had been thinking the last day or two to up it. I found myself having too much time to think about whether I wanted to swing or not. That may sound like it's an advantage, but it really isnt. I played about 2 inning of this game with PS at 65, but found it wasnt much different than 60, so I upped it to 75, and though I struggled a bit with it, I think it's gonna be better. Rarely was I early on a fastball...it was either timed right or I was late.....pretty much how it should be. I'm also still tinkering with different batting cameras. For this game I used Batter 3, Zoom 3, Height 6, and it seemed fine.

Overall, it seemed to play good. I will definitely try them for at least 5 games. However, one thing I noticed that I dont think will be just an occurrence for this game, was that my bat felt extremely weak with settings at 40/45(contact/power). There were quite a few pitches that I timed right(fastballs and a few hanging breaking balls), and they were either weakly hit in the infield, a lazy popfly, or just a weak single. I even timed a down the middle fastball perfectly with Pujols who pulled it to left field, but didnt even make it to the warning track. In 3 at bats with Pujols, Ludwick, and Holliday, neither one had anything behind their hits, even with hitting properly timed fastballs. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to up at least power.

I'll be playing more tonight, and I'll post my results.

                Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Just played a good game. Dodgers vs. Phillies. This game just makes me hate the Phillies even more than I already do. UGGGHH!!!

                Final Box Score:

                LAD: 2 9 0 - 7 Singles, 1 Double, 1 Home Run
                PHI: 4 7 0 - 4 Singles, 3 Home Runs

                Win: J.C. Romero
Loss: R. Troncoso - Gave up game-winning HR

                Starting Pitcher Stats:

                LAD: H. Kuroda - 6.1 IP, 2 Hits, 1 Run, 1 ER, 5 K, 1 HR, 91 Pitches
                PHI: J. Blanton - 6.1 IP, 6 Hits, 1 Run, 1 ER, 7 K, 122 Pitches

                Game Notes:

First of all, I raised the Pitcher Composure Influence slider up to 85 for this game with the hope that it would help the CPU string hits together to mount rallies. I did notice a couple of hits strung together in an inning or two, but for the most part, the CPU hits were still pretty scattered.

So, with that said, I still ended up in a pitcher's duel even though I tried my best not to. I hand-picked Blanton to start for the Phils because he was their middle-of-the-pack starter at 80 overall. Granted, I've been starving for offese these past couple of games but I didn't want to throw in Bastardo (65 overall) because I want to get "common" results from the sliders instead of spectacular results with aces (i.e. Roy Halladay's 140 pitch CG against me the other day), and overly horrible performances from scrub pitchers (Bastardo). I figured picking Blanton would be a solid pitcher to go against for slider testing. I brought Kuroda to the mound as an even match at 82 overall.

Like most of my recent games, this turned into a pitcher's duel. I was sitting pitchers down left and right with Kuroda by mixing up my pitches and location. Blanton looked really good in the early innings, but he started having a harder time as the game went on. There's really nothing to talk about until the bottom of the 4th inning. That's when I gave up a leadoff HR to Jimmy Rollins. Phillies lead 1-0. Kuroda is really rattled at this point, and I promptly give up a sharp single to Polanco. I'd like to think that this was because of the higher Pitcher Composure Influence. However, I end up getting Utley to ground into a DP, and Howard grounds out to end the threat/inning.

Judging by my last few games, I would normally be very pissed off about my lack of offensive production. I haven't scored more than three runs in at least the past 5 games that I've played. However, I have to remember that 4 of them were against top-level pitchers. I had so many chances to blow this game open. I lead off the 2nd with double with Manny....I stranded him at 3rd. I had men on first and second with 1 out in the top of the 4th, and I hit into a double play. I had bases loaded in both the top of the 5th AND 6th. Manny strikes out in the 5th, and Furcal strikes out in the 6th. However, I did get a run in the 5th to tie the game at one. In the top of the 7th, I hit a solo shot with Manny to left-field. Dodgers lead 2-1. I again have two men on after a Loney walk and a Blake single. I end up flying out with Martin to end the inning.

This brings us to the bottom of the 8th inning. At this point, I'm using the back end of my bullpen to secure the victory. I have Sherrill in against Ibanez (lefty against lefty), and he sends a down and away fastball opposite field for a solo HR. We are now tied at 2 as we head the ninth inning. I lead off the inning with a walk by Kemp. Ethier is up to bat, and instead of working the count for a possible hit 'n run situation, I decide to attempt the steal with Kemp...***iz throws him out. That really sucked, because I did end up singling with Ethier, and Kemp easily could've went first to third. The Phillies get a line out by Manny and a ground out by Loney to end it.

I bring in Troncoso to pitch the bottom of the 9th, as he is supposed to be my "groundball specialist". Whatever. I give up a single to Rollins early in the count. Troncoso is rattled, but I get Polanco to hit a groundball to short....I'm thinking double play. However, a good slide by Rollins causes me to only turn one. Next up is Utley, and he takes a 2-1 HIGH fastball deep to right field for the WALKOFF HR!!!

                Game over. Phillies win 4-2.

                Extra Notes:

I had my chances in this one. I'm not going to blame it on the hitting sliders. I could've easily had over 5 runs in this game, but I just couldn't get the key hit to get it done.

I've been noticing a lot of weakly hit ground balls by the CPU. As a result, I think I will be raising the CPU Power slider up to 85 for my next game. Again, it's not a matter of them not being able to make contact with the ball (see stats from this game and previous games). I think it's more of them not getting better contact to get solid hits. Even though I saw the Phillies hit 3 HRs off of me, it's not enough to deter me from at least trying the power slider raise. In the last 5 games that I've played, I don't think I've seen more than 3 or 4 homeruns, TOPS!

I might get one more game in tonight. We'll see.

                Cheers.

                  Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

                  Game 2

Played today's matchup of the Mets(me) and the Nats.

                  Box Score:

                  Mets: 2-8-0 4 singles, 4 doubles, 0 HR
                  Nats: 0-5-0 3 singles, 2 doubles, 0 HR

Pelfrey dominated the Nats striking out 10. I did notice that his energy did reset, however, in the 7th and 8th innings, I couldnt hardly throw a pitch. The pitch meter filled about the time I started the motion, as if he were really tired. However, even with me being up 2-0 in the 8th, the Nats kept their pitcher in to bat with a guy on 1st base.....just ********. Also, both of the games Ive played, hitting approach has changed like the flip of a switch for the cpu. In this game, for the first 4 or 5 innings, they swung at everything, but after that, they took ALOT of pitches.

Hitting: For the CPU, the first 4 or 5 innings, everything they hit had alot behind it. I couldnt even stop anything in the infield that was right at me, because it was out of the infield before the camera could even focus. But in the next half of the game, most of their hits were pretty weak. As for my hitting, still no power whatsoever. Even though I had 4 doubles, none of them were hit hard. there is just NOTHING behind my hits. Ive played 2 games with teams that have good power, but I havent even hit anything to the warning track. I think for the next game, I'm gonna bump power either to 50 or 55 and see what happens. Would you guys suggest I do that, or raise contact?

Oh, one other glitch Ive noticed, and it has nothing to do with sliders, is the baserunning. I dont know how many times Ive had a guy get thrown out at 2nd from the outfield because he didnt run when the ball was hit.

                    Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

Hitting and pitching really well right now. I've won all the games Ive played so far in my franchise and my record is now 10-2. Winning a lot of the games I've simmed too. Braves are HOT, but it has me a little worried about my sliders.

Had a 9-0 lead over the Padres going into the 9th. Gave up 8 in the 9th (was on the phone while playing and being bitched at by my fiance) but brought Wagner in and he closed it.

Then I blew out the Rockies 9-0. Complete Game shutout with Jurrjens. Dunno why the sliders are feeling easy all of a sudden. I had some tough tough games which I was mostly losing before the last 5 games or so. Most of those were quick play games and not franchise games though, not sure if that matters any.

                    Braves 9 16 0 - 10 singles, 5 doubles, 1 homerun, 1 walk, 7 ko, saw 127 pitches
                    Rockies 0 4 1 - 4 singles, 4 KO, saw only 77 pitches.

Did see an error in this game, pitcher dropped a popped up bunt.

Going to play a few more before I make slider adjustments. If I do make any adjustments I imagine the user batting power might drop 5 points, user pitch meter speed may go up along with pitcher composure influence. I may also raise the pitch speed to give a bit less reaction time.

                    Hows everyone else doing?

I'm sure there's a Mute button around here somewhere...

Pause and or save then quit would've fixed it, but then I wouldn't have gotten the game in before going to Bed Bath and Beyond to register...

The CPU is usually averaging 120-140 pitches per game. I'm a fairly patient hitter but I do swing at some junk here and there. Strike % is usually in the 60's for the CPU which is about right. This is with the strike zone tendency slider at 45.

For USER pitch count I average 110-120 pitches per game. This is a bit low. I think pitching to the catcher suggestions is a good idea and I do typically do this to a certain extent. Now you won't find me going with their suggestion when they want a letter high sinker, but for the most part I follow whether they want me to throw a pitch in the zone or out of the zone. As I get better with my gestures I believe this pitch count will improve as I'm leaving a lot of pitches I mean to have on the corners over the middle of the plate and then some pitches I mean to have off the corners are on the corners (or in the middle of the plate, heh) so I have to work on that a bit. Leave less balls over the middle of the plate and less of my pitches will end up in play!

It would make sense that if the user would follow the catcher suggestions then the user pitch count should come closer to mimicing the cpu pitch count.

In my opinion, pitch count is low becuase there are not enough foul balls; almost always (especially when the count is x and 2) swinging the bat will put the ball in play. I don't think sliders can solve this issue

Nice thread. I was suprised to read you guys state that USER Base runner speed also affects the cpu. Is this confirmed?

Also, it seems from most comments that cpu aggression at the plate is tied to the contact slider. I've been using a low cpu contact slider (35 because I've sucked at pitching - new to the series) and they take a ton of pitches. Has this been confirmed as well?

So from a realistic standpoint...what are the average pitch counts per side per game in real life?
