    Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

I'm not sure if you guys are playing this on console, or PC, of if there is even a difference, but I find default All-Star sliders to make the game way too easy. I was crushing teams 10-1, 14-0, it just wasn't any fun. So far I just havn't been able to find a happy medium, it seems like there's a wall you hit where one notch makes it jump from way too easy to way too hard. I'm playing on PC by the way. Here are the sliders I have used for a few games, and they seem decent.

    Pitcher Fatigue 70

    Batting (Player/CPU)

    Contact 35/85
    Power 50/80
    Bunt Contact 35/75
    Bunt Success 40/75

    Pitching (Player)

    Pitch Meter Speed 100
    Pitch Speed 60
    Pitch Break Influence 100
    Pitcher Composure Influence 75

    Pitching (CPU)

    AI Pitch Success 85
    AI Strike Zone Tendency 40
    AI Pitcher Composure Influence 25

    Fielding

    Throw Meter Influence 80
    Fielder Speed 20
    AI Fielder Speed 20

    Running (Player)

    Base Runner Speed 60
    Pickoff Success 25
    Catcher Throw-out Success 30

    Running (CPU)

    80, 75, 80, 80, 70, 80

I really hoped they would fix this problem I had with 2k9, I want the game to be a real challenge, but I also want to be able to produce semi realistic numbers in games. Numbers in baseball should fluctuate from game to game, sometimes fairly dramatically. It seems that when I find a decent difficulty level, the in game results are always almost identical. Of course the game would be a challenge with contact so low I could barely ever get a hit, but how would that be at all realistic. Of course a few times over the course of an entire season, you could expect your team to get blanked by a pitcher who has a stellar outing, and only come up with a couple hits, but not every time out. It seems that what you can expect from AI and user controlled pitchers will be virtually the same every time out. AI hitting is also ridiculously unbalanced, it's either a near no hitter, or an 8 run/20 hit rout, based entirely on the difficulty setting and not individual pitcher performance game to game.

I'm going to see what I get with these sliders and settings now. I'm going to play 5 games with these and not touch any of them, and post the box scores here for some suggestions on what should be changed, because right now I'm changing them constantly and it's driving me nuts.

      TO MCS1105:

I know what you mean. Early on I was getting some good variety and it was a challenge. Now that I've gotten the hang of the game and have played several franchise games I'm seeing similar results and also I'm challenged a lot less.

PS. I play on Xbox 360.

Let me know how those sliders you posted turn out, maybe I'll give 'em a shot.

Just curious how those updates are working for you as I haven't had a chance to test until I get home from work tonight.
I've only played a game or two with them so far. If i recall I played the Cardinals but they had backups in for Holliday and another starter (can't recall). I think the game was 2-2 through 7 innings and I super simmed the rest of it because I ran out of time. I've noticed if you save a game, once you reload it that it resets the pitchers fatigue.

Gonna play another game against the cards lineup with all starters in and see how it goes. I'll post the results. I may have to up the difficulty more, we will see.

          Re: Blazzen's MLB2K10 Slider Thread

          Hello All,

I haven't posted in this thread for the past few days, because I've been rigorously testing new sets of sliders. After hitting a ceiling with my first set, I ventured over to Joe's thread to see what he was coming up with. I used his set as a base, and I began tweaking from there. I've tweaked quite a bit, and I think I've finally come up with a solid set. I haven't changed any of these sliders in the past five games, and I'm having a lot of fun games with great variety.

I thought I'd share them to see what you guys thought.

Is there a reason that this is in Blazzen's thread and not you're own thread? Just wandering. It can get confusing.

If you'll look through the thread, you'll notice that Blazzen and I have been working on a semi-joint set of sliders since last week. I wouldn't have posted my own set in his thread if I didn't have permission from Blazzen in the first place.

Hey that is cool...I'm not trying to be the Forum police! Just saying that maybe you should start your own thread as well. It may ultimately help you get yours dialed in, without trying to distinguish which sets we are all referring to. Jus sayin. I do appreciate the work that goes into fixing 2k's mistakes..trust me.

Alright, I have been using Blazzen's sliders and updating as they have been on here, I've got to say there have been some great games, I am playing as the Braves by the way.....here are my box scores up to this point:
                    CUBS....................R:2 H:8 E:1
                    BRAVES.................R:4 H:12 E:0
                    W: Jurrjens L: Lilly

                    CUBS....................R:9 H:16 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:0 H:6 E:0 (0-0 til the 8th)
                    W: Zambrano L: Hanson

                    CUBS....................R:1 H:6 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:2 H:12 E:0
                    W: Medlen L: Grabow

                    GIANTS.................R:1 H:10 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:0 H:10 E:0
                    W: Sanchez L: Moylan

                    GIANTS.................R:1 H:10 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:3 H:10 E:0
                    W: Kawakami L: Bumgarner

                    GIANTS.................R:3 H:8 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:2 H:6 E:0
                    W: Lincecum L: Jurrjens

                    PADRES.................R:0 H:1 E:0
                    BRAVES.................R:4 H:11 E:0
                    W: Hanson L: Correia

That last one broke my heart......Hanson had the no hitter in the 9th with two outs and the pinch hitter got a hit, so sad but great game.

I'd say those box scores are very believable and I haven't had any games where I was thinking 'no way that would ever happen'. Now if the pitcher stamina glitch gets cleared up and if my game would stop freezing when I am browsing through the menus after a game from the team page (after the autosave thank goodness!) I'd be estatic!!!

Thanks for all the hard work and the great sliders and Go Braves!

Those couple of games with the Giants seem weird. 0 10 0 and 1 10 0. You rarely see lines with that many hits and few runs.

Well, as far as the Giants having so many hits but not the runs, I was able to pitch out of some jams......now as far as mine go, sadly, this was due to my getting a feel for the baserunning controls and sending people when I didn't quite mean to, the game overall wasn't as ackward as those particular box scores may make it come across as.

I think CPU contact at 50 is a good number. My power is at 80 right now but I bet I will find it climbing up towards 100 before its all over. Same with the pitching sliders, I imagine my user pitching sliders will climb up towards those levels too. I'm taking it a little bit slower, going about 5 games at a time before making changes. Haven't had that much time to play the last few days.

The higher user batting power and the lower cpu pitching sliders I've already "passed". I don't think I'll be lowering those any as user hitting, runs scored, etc is pretty good for me right now. What I'm lacking is cpu offense just a bit (mainly extra base hits) so I imagine I'll be raising cpu hitting power some and raising the user pitching difficulty just a bit before arriving on the sliders I plan on using with my franchise once opening day rosters come out.

Everyone should keep in mind sliders will need to be tailored to each user's abililties. I recommend doing what itbeme23 is doing and starting with a base and going from there. That's what my sliders are meant to be, a base to start from instead of having to start from default allstar or pro (basically from scratch).

PS. As I've already stated, I don't mind people posting their settings in this thread. Often times they give me new ideas to make mine better. Sliders are a collaboration, the more the merrier. "My" settings will always be updated in the first post.

Blazzen - I like your composure rating at 75. I used that last night and it made pitching late in a close game (8th inning, 1 run lead @ LAD) w/ Lincecum a real challenge. I'd expect that situation to BE a challenge too (IRL).

                            Sticking w/ user pitching comp. @ 75.

You guys will get a good laugh...

I used these last night. First game: Tampa Bay (me) vs. Indians. I lost 3-0. Jake Westbrook threw a no-hitter against me. Man, I blow at this game. The hitting has a completely different feel from last year, so I have a LOT to learn. By about the 5th inning I was so pissed I was hacking at everything (LOL!!).

I'm kinda torn on this game... Personally, I think it plays WAY too fast. Never thought I'd say this, but I actually kinda like 2k9 better in some areas... Let the stone throwing begin...

Your sliders work really good man! Just tried them for the first time and I beat the Reds 4-3(I was the Giants)
