I have the user pitching composure at 95, and was seeing too many singles and not enough extra base hits.
        With

        CPU contact 65
        CPU power 100
        and HUM pitch composure 95

        I'm seeing much better games.

Man, am I the only one giving up massive homeruns with cpu hitting 50/100? I'm on the PC version, unpatched obviously.

Yep. I bumped the CPU contact to 70 (POW down to 90) a few days back to see if it would work. So far so good. I've only given up 2 HRs (DeRosa and the leadoff hitter from the Pirates). You really need to focus on pitching and not throwing in the zone as much. My walk totals have increased also.

And you probably wont, it is just too easy no matter what the sliders are to pinpoint your pitches in this game.

I'm walking 0.64 per game after 11. It isn't something that can be fixed with sliders, it's a development problem.

Before anyone tries to tell me that "walks don't happen as often as you think"... the league average for walks in 2009 was about 3 and a half per game.

I find it nearly impossible to walk players as well. I have pitch meter speed, pitch break influence and pitcher composure influence set at 100 for the user. never walk a guy unless i do so intentionally. they need to make this harder...

are these sliders for total control batting and pitching or classic?

If you aren't walking anyone, then you probably aren't working the corners enough, using mainly aces, and/or are just crazy good at this game. While there are not enough walks, and it is too easy to put the pitch where you want it, it isn't as bad as it is being made out to be. Through 25 completed games, I throw 69% strikes (which is higher than the MLB avg, which I believe is 62%). I walk 1.44 batters a game, while still way too low, is a lot better than .64 or what have you that you guys are throwing. My ERA is 4.39, which is actually just about right considering I've mostly used the Braves and Mariners, who have very good pitching staffs.

I'm more concerned about my offense. Through those 25 games, I'm batting .298. I'm also using these for My Player, and in that, I'm batting .380 through 21 games at AA, with a .543 slg %.

IMO if you pitch where the catcher tells you to then you will work the count more as the catcher usually suggest balls to get hitters to chase

                              This.

I've gone back to pitching to the catcher's suggestions nearly exclusively. If the catcher calls for a high breaking ball, I will throw it low, but still work in inside or outside as it is called. Otherwise, I pitch to the box with the pitch that is suggested.

I am throwing less than 70% strikes, as well.

I played 2K8 this way, and it worked very well. The catcher suggestions were too crazy bad in 2K9, so I went to using the Inside Edge to make my decisions. I'm glad that suggestions have been fixed, although I'd like to see a little more variability in location in the patch. I'm not counting on it, but it would be nice.

I also hope they bring back the Payoff Pitch mode from 2K8. I liked the risk/reward involved in having to hit your spot to boost the a pitches stat, while missing it meant you lost points.

There are almost zero user issued walks in this game. I'm 15-9 through 24 games and I've issued 4 walks. I've got cpu contact up to 45 and power at 100. Control is simply far, far, too good once you get used to the system. The only way you walk anybody in this game is that you almost intentionally do it. You can paint the black pretty easy so the game becomes a different game of how close can you nibble or paint the corners. That's not the way a baseball game should be as pitchers just aren't that accurate. Just ask the Indians closer who walked three Tigers in the bottom of the 9th, walked in the tying run and allowed the winning run to score on a wild pitch yesterday.

I would love it if they patched the accuracy and made it a lot harder to hit your spots. It would create more user issued walks and make it a lot more realistic. Making pitching harder shouldn't be about boosting cpu sliders so they hammer pitches on the black or outside the strike zone. It should be about getting the players to play more to their ratings.
