    mkharsh,

thank you for these sliders. they are awesome. my games vary greatly and there are tense moments. i have given up big leads in the 9th with my relievers and other times mowed the opponent down.

the only changes for me were to bump up the human and cpu power a bit. i think cpu is at 85 right now and hum at 65. otherwise, it is perfect. i might go to 90 for cpu eventually.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I'm really enjoying the game with this slider set (and your year-end rosters). I'm having a bit of trouble getting the timing down when it comes to hitting; I'm either too early or too late, it seems, on most of my swings.

The pitching sliders are spot-on, though. I'm just playing random games right now and in my last matchup, Pittsburgh (CPU) @ St. Louis, I walked 4 batters with Jake Westbrook. He struggled with command all afternoon, but I managed to battle through 6 innings, only giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Not to get into a comparison, but one of the things that has bugged me about The Show is the lack of user walks, (unless you use Classic pitching which no one really knows how it works) when using the Meter or Analog. I like that I can actually walk the CPU.

Hopefully, my bats will come alive and then I'll really be rolling.

Any tips on hitting, guys? I'm still having issues with timing my swing.

Try to watch a few pitches to gauge how long it takes for the ball to get to the plate when the pitcher throws the fastball. Then sit on the fastball.

Dan... You might want to look at your camera settings. I go with the default batting camera, but zoom is +1. That small change helped my batting average a few points. I STRUGGLE mightily hitting breaking balls, especially sliders...

I hit just like I was taught in college and the same way I teach the high school team I coach.

                "One adjust"

Look fastball, then adjust to offspeed.

If you're a guesser, and you guess curveball, by the time you realize it is a fastball.......it is by you.

But, if you look to hit fastball, once you realize it isn't fastball, you can wait and take the offspeed pitch the other way.

Can't adjust to something faster, so look for the ONE and adjust to everything else.

Can't hit a good slider to save my life. They often end up as harmless ground balls or weak sister pop ups in foul territory to the infield. Love your sliders, man

I've been using a modified version of these sliders playing a season as the Akron Aeros and for the most part the numbers look pretty good all around, but there are a few things I still need work on. There have been two main issues for me and they both hold court for both sides of the plate. One is power. Neither me or the CPU are hitting any home runs. I'm 11 games into my season and have 2 homeruns and 5 doubles. I have only given up 3 homeruns and 6 doubles. I have human power at 100 and I'm still not hitting them. I turned contact up too, but I just got more singles. The other issue is walks. Now, this may sound like a "what else is new" issue, but in this case, it's not. Because the problem is not that I'm not giving up/drawing enough walks. The problem, for the first time ever (and I can't believe I'm saying this) but there have been too many walks. WAY too many walks. Like, 5per game on both sides. I had one game where I walked 13 times and walked the CPU 12 times.

to lower user walks - raise user pitch control to 35 (see how this works)

to lower cpu walks - AI Strike Zone Tendency to 45

                      - - -

Regarding power issue: since you're playing AA ball - that might be the problem. Probably not many guys with high power where pitchers have more dominant attributes. Just a guess, but that might be something you'll just have to deal with.

Yeah, I sort've suspected the same thing about the power. I'm still hoping I can get that number up, though as most of my power number have come from one player with a power rating less than 50, so I'm thinking, "if I can get it out of him, why not my other players". But also, it may have just been a lucky few games for him. As far as pitcher controller, I have been moving it up in increments. I think I may have found a good balance because the last few games, the walk totals have been much better .

I've got the game set up with your settings and I suppose it works pretty well. However, I still can not draw walks. Four times in a game I just got done with I got a 3-0 count (on pitches that bordered on wild pitches) only to sit and watch 3 consecutive strikes (pretty much over the middle of the plate, none anywhere near being out of the zone) all four times on batters with good eye ratings against 2 pitchers who aren't the greatest control pitchers. I really have no choice but to swing with 2 strikes. I had an average of less than 1 walk a game before changing the sliders because all I would see are strikes after I have 2 strikes on me, and I managed 1 walk after I changed the settings. I don't see any difference. This inability to draw walks is really ruining the experience for me. I look around the league at the stats and all other teams are drawing a normal amount of walks but we have a whopping total of 28 walks in 39 games (13 of which were intentional).

I read somewhere if you hit well the AI pitchers will fear you more, thus throwing more balls. Well, we are 8-1 in the real season and hitting a fair number of homeruns (3rd in the AL right now with 13), but the opposing pitchers still keep throwing strikes.

I don't use auto-throw, but my personal thought process is that anything I have the CPU take control of I would match those sliders to the CPU settings.

If there's one thing this slider set has shown me over tons of both HUMvCPU and CPUvCPU games, its that the CPU plays a very nice, realistic game of baseball. The stats are realistic, the games are actually fun to have on in the background while doing other things, etc. Any difference is the settings from HUM to CPU is to help bring the player into balance with CPUs solid game either by challenging the player more or less as needed.
