Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

    Hey mkharsh!
I am having great games with the sliders as they are on all star level, but after all the positive feedbacks I have seen around, I am curious to give these a shot.

Now, since I play with auto-fielding, should I use the same values for Gather Error Frequency and Throwing Error Frequency for both HUM and CPU or is there something else affecting these sliders?
(I think you wanted to make fielding harder for manual users)

    Same goes for
Catcher Arm Strength and Catcher Arm Accuracy... how come these are different for CPU and HUM? if I use autobaserunning, should I have them the same for CPU and user?

    Thanks

Just played a sweet game for my opening day Mets chise against the Braves home at Citifield. Using your rosters with Classic hitting/Total control pitching

      Braves hitting
      Doubles Prado (1), McCann (1), Pastornicky (1), Diaz (1)
      RBI Bourn (1), Prado (1), McCann (1), Uggla (1)
      SB Bourn (1)

      Mets hitting
      Double Wright (1)
      HR Davis (1, 3 Run)
      RBI Davis (3) Bay (1) Thole (1)

Started the first three innings being very impatient was thinking about restarting because of how stupid i was playing, But things really clicked in the bottom of the 4th. Murphy led off with a single, David Wright followed him with a little blooper over the pitchers head that landed between the left side of the mound and the left side of 2nd base which Murphy JUST beat and was safe. Up stepped Ike Davis who pulled a Home Run to right field! Johan managed to stay out of trouble, and thanks in part to a braves throwing error we were able to add 3 more runs in the 6th. Things got a little hairy for us after Johan departed and the bullpen took over (my fault I need more work with these guys!) But we just escaped with the win.

I used classic hitting and i wont be going back to the stick for awhile. There was a good amount of CPU shots that went to the warning track but not out. I really like the hit distrubution this year no stupid soft liners to 2nd and no overblown amount of grounders. The base running this game looked good to me, and bourne was safe by a good mile on his steal like he should have been.

The only issue I have is not giving up walks when pitching. I wouldn't mind a seeing control bumped down one more personally. I've been using 30 control for awhile and have yet to walk a batter since i got the game. I only get behind in the count maybe 2 or 3 times in a game and its pretty easy to throw a strike if you really need to.

Errors were good this game, but I could see lowering them for the CPU in the future need to play more. Great fun

Question: If auto-baserunning is on, will the AI Steal Aggression rating affect how often my team attempts a steal or is that just for CPU teams. Again with Auto baserunning ON, thereby having the AI control it for me.

Just a note to those wondering.

I used MK's sliders last year even though I always do Total Control Hitting. I noticed no difference in hitting with Total Control Vs. Classic Hitting controls.

Basically in my mind flipping a stick forward is not much different then tapping the "A" button.

You should be able to anjoy MK's sliders no matter which hitting method you use.

So I'm either really rusty, or these are really difficult. I just got torched by the Blue Jays, 15-2.

I could only manage 6 hits, 5 singles and a double.

I could not keep up with the amount of hits they got in the OF gaps.

I allowed a combined 7 HR with good pitchers on the mound.

Of course going to play some more before adjustments are made, but their hitters were amazing, and I just couldn't really get anything going. Early assessment is that CPU POWER needs to be lowered, but we'll see. Good work.

These are a little bit difficult at first, my 1st 2 games on these sliders were both 10+ run losses to Texas. But my 3rd game on them was better, I lost...but it was 4-1 and it felt much better than the 1st 2

Ok...I've played 3 games with these sliders, and have come up with 4 hits..combined! Have 1 no hitter against me (bedard). One 18 inning game that I lost 1-0. Not hating on the sliders, I'm hating on the game. Only way I can get a hit is if I set it to 100, for myself and the CPU. What a disastrous game.

I was struggling like this early on with the game and was a little frustrated...my recommendation is to work the counts, take pitches, and even if the pitcher throws you a 1st pitch strike you should take it. This is how I hit in RL and in the games since I was taught that way as a kid. I wasn't old enough to see it, but I've been told by coaches Rod Carew really never swung at a first pitch strike, and the man was a .300 hitter for his career.

And I mean, it makes sense to take pitches. It helps wear down the pitcher, and working the count helps get you better pitches too. I always struggle offensively when I'm being impatient and its possible this is happening with you too?

This is how I hit in RL and in the games since I was taught that way as a kid. I wasn't old enough to see it, but I've been told by coaches Rod Carew really never swung at a first pitch strike, and the man was a .300 hitter for his career.

And I mean, it makes sense to take pitches. It helps wear down the pitcher, and working the count helps get you better pitches too. I always struggle offensively when I'm being impatient and its possible this is happening with you too?
I always take until I get a strike, unless I'n looking for a sac fly, so plate discipline isn't my issue. I'm very good at get the SPs energy down. Point is, when I hit the ball it doesn't get out of the INF. I'm watching replays and I'm making good contact, it sounds good and looks good yet it doesn't equate to hits, just easy outs. Past games were far too easy to hit and unfortunately they have over done it this year...in the wrong direction.

I'm not having this issue personally with these sliders...hmmm, I'm honestly stumped haha.

Although I do agree about this game being more pitcher-oriented

Do you use Lstick to aim?

Nope, I just let the ball go where it wants to based off my timing and such. But even in the games where I was getting blown out, I was still getting hits...that's why I'm baffled here

One change noted (in RED) on page 1 - post 1 ... Thursday, March 8 at 7:50 pm:

                                - USER PITCH CONTROL lowered from 30 to 25.

I think we're VERY close, if we're not there already. Just played an amazingly fun game:

Mets (cpu) at Pirates (me). I won 5-4. Trailed 2-0. Saw a crazy inning where the Mets made 2 throwing errors and my guys on base scored to tie it. Presley hit a 2 run homer to put me up 4-2. I scored another run on an RBI single to lead 5-2. Mets kept chipping away but Hanrahan shut the door.

                                Mets: 4 - 12 - 2
                                Pirates: 5 - 6 - 1

I hit 2 doubles and a homer. Mets hit 3 doubles. I chased Niese out in the 6th inning and McDonald struggled for me to get through 5 before I had 5 bullpen pitchers finish it out. FUN stuff!!!
