lowering it makes them fatigue SLOWER... I've tested this and have found 45 to be PERFECT. At 40, you'd never see bullpen guys come in as starters would go the distance. Now, it's up to the individual to work the counts and make them throw a LOT of pitches.

I LOVE what 2K has done this year with pitcher/batter battles. Unlike previous years, you can really work the counts this year. I've had innings where I got the opposing pitcher to throw over 30 pitches. In one game I chased the starter in 4 2/3 innings as he had already thrown nearly 90 pitches and was toast.

I simmed a season at injury slider 15 and it did not affect the season stats at all. Still highest avg 330, most W's 18 and HRs 40 not a big deal but hopeful they patch it a little

I just played an epic game in my franchise against the Mariners. Final score 7-6 me in 11 innings. Take a look at the box score:

I jumped ahead 6-2. But the CPU fought hard to bring it back to a tie game. George Sherrill out of the pen was locking me down and getting quick outs on deceptive breaking stuff up until he tired a little too much and left one hanging, Peralta took advantage and I won a thriller.

I hit 2 HR and so did the CPU. The CPU gave a couple balls a ride, one with Ichiro that went 400 feet! The only thing i need to do is bump user control down a notch, but I haven't changed the sliders since last night before the change to 15, so hopefully that will make it perfect.

        But these sliders are amazing

Catcher arm strength needs to be somewhere around 40-45 for the computer. I've been playing as the Braves and anything above those numbers and it is almost impossible to steal even with Michael Bourn.

45 has been working for me. Might be a little too easy but 50 and I could not steal a base at all with ellsbury or Crawford. I would rather steal a little less often than normal than not get any SB's. I might try to bump up the catcher throwing accuracy to see if better throws can get me sometimes.

              1 Change on Page 1 - Post 1:

              Friday, March 9, 1:40 PM

CPU AI Baserunner Speed: raised from 40 to 45

I was seeing too many baserunners getting thrown out on attempting steals. Instead of lowering their steal tendency (because we want them to run) this was the best route to go. Don't want to raise it any higher, or you'll then have to raise the user infield throw speed, but I think those are perfect.

Just played a game that I lost 7-1. I was the Cardinals (me) at the Twins (cpu). Marquis killed me with that sinker ball. I only struck out twice and I had 9 hits. He went the distance going 9 IP, giving up 9 hits and one run.

I struggled to get Westbrook through 5 innings. The big blast that killed me was a bases clearing triple in the 7th inning that blew it open. I had my chances but he pitched great when he needed to.

I'll say this: 2K12 might be the funnest baseball game I've EVER played... The commentary is simply amazing this year. Was talking about what pitches I was getting torched with, and the immersion is very cool.

              - note: regarding the cpu catcher throw power above: I'm not going to touch it. I think it's perfect where it is, and I've stolen some bases, and I've gotten thrown out. The one thing that will KILL this game is to lower the catcher arm strength where you can cherry pick bases. Again, tweak to fit your needs.

Agreed with that, but anything above 45 and you're not going to see anything close to remotely realistic steal rates. When you can get a four-step lead with the fastest guy in the lead and not get a stolen base on a curve ball something is seriously wrong.

Not sure if this is a slider issue, but I've noticed that ai controlled base-runners are hesitating between 1st and 2nd on fly-balls and then getting throw-out at 2nd when the ball drops for a single.

Just pitched a few inning with Halladay and really had trouble throwing strikes. Perhaps I'm just not very good with the pitching gestures, but I think user control needs to come up a bit (for me at least).

                      Friday, March 9, 6:15 pm - 4 adjustments made (noted on page 1 - post 1):

                      - raised BOTH USER Infield and Outfield Run Speed from 10 to 15

                      - lowered BOTH CPU Infield and Outfield Run Speed from 20 to 15

I was seeing 1) too many cpu triples and 2) I couldn't make a double play on what I thought were routine plays that should have been made (if you recall, I raised the cpu baserunning speed to help the cpu get steals - but this also made playing user defense impossible).

I think these changes should really, really help...

                      - - -

Regarding pitching: yes, it is harder to throw strikes now, and I recognize that. I raised that from 15 to 20 (for user pitch control) and suddenly found myself dominating the pitching end once again...wasn't any fun. The drawback to 2K's baseball sliders (and they don't do this in the NBA 2K games) is you can only put sliders that end in 0 or 5...they truly need the other numbers to allow for more fluctuation. Tweak to fit your needs, and if pitching is difficult, by all means change that (just like the cpu catcher arm strength that was noted above). But I'll leave the base set alone.

I just need someone to explain to me how the pitching system works. Like of I keep the LS held to the left, does that mean I'm aiming the ball while it's in motion?

Other than that, I've been having a lot of fun w/ these.

It has a lot to do with whether you power it less (keeping it inside the circle) or power it more (outside the circle). You then need to know what the specific pitch type will do based upon where you locate it as your starting point and which way it will break.

I've played a zillion games, so it's a muscle-memory thing for me. I can understand how it's difficult, so just raise your user pitch control to 20 (for you). Once you get better at it, then lower it back down (as eventually you'll dominate).

I'm almost 40, and not the most coordinated guy on 2 feet, nor am I a dominating type of gamer. So please know that my hand reflexes aren't always the best. Don't be afraid to pitch outside of the zone as well. Think like a pitcher. Too many guys want to throw 3 strikes in each at-bat, but it doesn't work that way. Baseball games are SLOOOOOW paced, so you have to give yourself plenty of time to play a game. It's when I start getting in a hurry that I throw too many pitches over the plate, and start swinging at first pitches (which frustrates me).

Ok cool. So after I initially aim it, the LS doesn't really come into play?

And yea, I'll probably raise the slider up. I wasn't sure if it was b/c of the sliders or not being used the to pitching controls.

It's when I start getting in a hurry that I throw too many pitches over the plate, and start swinging at first pitches (which frustrates me).
even 15 pitch control doesn't feel that hard to throw strikes but at least it makes you think twice before throwing. I always try to get the circle as full as possible without going over as that gives you an automatic 75% pitch. what situations do you go outside the circle as opposed to trying to max?

also maxing it is very hard this year I like that a lot

Exactly my feelings. I find with it on 15 there's more variety. I can have a day where my starter is lights out dominant, and days where he gets beat up to a point where I'm feeling physically ill from watching it lol.
