Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Well, after 15 games in my franchise I am 10-5 with these sliders.

I'm #1 in the league in walks (67 through 15 games), last in the league in home runs (5 in 15 games) and in the bottom 10 in doubles (18 in 15 games). However, I'm in the top 10 in RBI (66 through 15 games), so it's not like I can't score (in fact, I'm hitting .301 with RISP, 5th in the league), but it's pretty much just walks and singles. I've upped the power to 60 and the contact to 35 and it doesn't feel any different than 55/30. I don't use the left stick, either.

Pitching is pretty dominant. Top 5 in ERA (2.84 through 15 games), #1 in the league in walks allowed (35 in 15 games), top 10 in Ks (108 through 15 games).

Seriously considering dropping outfield and infield run speed to see what happens. I can't count how many balls with quality contact were snagged by flying outfielders and diving infielders with magnet gloves (the ball actually teleports a few feet into their glove). Of course, this happens on both sides, but I'm seeing a massive drop in game variety and falling into the 2-1, 4-1, 3-2 rut. I've got 8 saves in 15 games as the games are super close all the time.

    Personal tweaks I've made are:

User power 55 --> 60 (seems to make no difference)
User contact 30 --> 35 (seems to make no difference)
User baserunning speed 40 --> 50 (guys with 95 speed were getting thrown out with four step leads and good jumps, had to get boosted, still have close plays at 50)
    AI pitch speed 75 --> 50 (I just can't react that fast)

Are you a beginner? Then MKharsh's sliders could be a little too hard for you - no offense!

I don't know if it is just me, I think I saw it mentioned by others, but the user strikeouts are very high. In this game I didn't pitch really well, but the Nats swung at everything. I ended up getting 16 strikeouts, that seems to be much too high, since none elite pitcher was involved.

Does anybody have a solution for this or knows which sliders need to be tweaked for this?

At least in this game it was the first time for me in MLB 2k12 that the cpu put in a pinch hitter and a pinch runner. In 2k11 it happened quite frequently but in 2k12 it happens way too less.
Try lowering user pitch break influence by 5

To the 2K series, yes. I've played The Show since '09. So overall, no, I wouldn't say I'm a beginner. I just have no idea how people play with pitch speed at 75. In fact I've had this problem with all baseball games, I've had to turn pitch speed WAY down from what slider people recommend.

In fact, I'd say pitching is too easy and hitting isn't too hard (I can get plenty of singles and my team BA is ~.260), it's just imbalanced.

these aren't for the faint of heart... but 1) change some things to help you get acquainted with the controls, or 2) look at some other slider sets. No disrespect to the other slider creators, but these are on a higher difficulty level, a hybrid of legend/all-star.

I have to do the same thing. I have the other sliders exactly what mk has them at except for CPU pitch speed. My eyes don't work that fast. Lol. At 50 it feels like I can recognize pitch location and type which allows me to draw a couple of walks per game. What I do notice though is that 90% of the time I do draw walks it is 4 straight balls. Rarely do I draw a walk after I have a strike on me.

I think it has a lot to do with practice. As I started to play the 2k series last year I wasn't able to play with a pitch speed higher than 50. Now I can play with 85-90 pitch speed. Tried even 100 out, but that is too hard.

The more you play this game the better you'll get... Takes time to learn the pitch movements, but once you do, you will NOT want it to be easy. I love how I've seen an ace struggle, and I've seen a high 60's rated player have a great game. Makes it fun and fresh...

Been playing since 2k7. Like in said I don't think my hand eye coordination is up to par with everyone else. LOL.

I still can't hit with these sliders. And it seems ALL of the runs I am giving up are on home runs.

Also FWIW I have yet to hit any doubles down the lines. All of the doubles I have hit have been in the gaps and I think I have hit maybe 6 doubles over 13 games. I have also only hit 4 home runs over 13 games. I have scored 1 run in each of my last 5 games lol.

Also I would say 70% of my outs are on weak groundballs in the infield or lazy pop flies to the outfield. It just seems like the hitters don't hit the ball with any type of authority.

And when I do get a pitch to hit and swing at the right time most times it goes right back to the screen. Even when I have a ball right down the middle most times my batter will just pop it up or drive it right into the ground.

I like that the CPU is potent on offense but to me they hit way to many home runs and don't manufacture anything.

I haven't posted to this thread but have been reading it consistently along with all the other slider threads. I have used your set as of yesterday and getting good results have played 3 total games with it and very pleased with the results. I didnt keep track with the other two shame on me! I do remember losing 10-3 on one and losing 7-5 on the other.

I did keep track this past game with me being the braves and the computer being the padres. I used Mike Minor as my starter and they used Dustin Moseley.

                          the box score is as follows;
                          SD 0 0 1 2 1 0 1 0 0 5 10 0
                          ATL 4 0 0 0 3 0 0 2 X 9 12 1
W: Mike Minor L: Micah Owings

The Padres pulled Moseley after being shelled in the first inning

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Starting this weekend i'm gonna be posting some game stats again. Haven't been playing much games out just testing stuff and working on my hitting but I will start playing full games to post stats.

These sliders really are the only ones to give a challenge on the OS forums imo, I can't play any other way I prefer things being harder and forcing me to get better than things to be easy and win every game. Eventually if I outgrow these sliders I may even adjust further to create more challenge but these feel good for the most part, here a few areas i'm going to be paying attention to:

CPU Strikeouts/Offense -- Computer seems to strikeout alot from what i read lately, I liked having the CPU Contact higher but I know theres more factors to consider. I feel I have a real good grasp on pitching so I expect to strike out a lot and will look for ways to get that to be realistic numbers. One note earlier when testing the sliders i was worried about my strike percentage being high and not throwing enough balls, so i wanted the USER pitch control to be lowered. I now realize it wasn't that slider that was my problem but the fact that I wasn't pitching outside the zone enough on my own. I read some of the game stats posted here where guys have a 80%+ strike percentage and that seems wierd the MLB average is 65% and most pitchers dont vary from either whether elite or a 5th rotation guy. The real solution is to make the computer good enough to force you to not throw in the strike zone all day. You should be afraid of throwing a strike to Dan Uggla and other types of hitters and choose to pitch around guys/inside on guys/getting them to chase out of the zone when ahead just like a real MLB pitcher. I feel CPU contact really needs to be high or else you don't get that feeling.

User hitting into double plays -- With the base runner speeds at different values the IF/OF throwing/run speeds may need some adjustment. I believe the reasoning for seperate base runner values is that the CPU naturally is faster and this makes them even ingame right? I have no problem with them being seperate but I have noticed it being very easy to be doubled up while hitting, my goal is to have it be closer to the MLB average of 1 double play per team per game.

Minor league games -- I love to dip into the minor leagues with MKs roster and use my guys down there. Every game ive played ive had a very easy time racking up hits, even after lowering CPU composure to 15. Im talking 12-15 hits in 6 innings. Ive become much better at hitting and really like the camera im using now so I need to go back to playing major league games to see how I do but I really believe minor league games play different. Contact might need to be lowered for the minor league games but Id rather use the same values as in the majors, it just feels overpowered offensively down there. I hit three triples in 4 games. First I will make sure the major league game plays like I want then Ill take a look at the minors after i'm all set. Worst case I might have to lower User contact to 20 when playing minor league games thats the beauty of sliders you can really play the game how you like

Between Mks roster release and the perfect game challenge im gonna play a crapload of MLB2k12 this weekend.

                              Dumb question here:

Can you still unlock Xbox 360 achievements while using these custom sliders?
