Re: Pared's MVP 2005 Gameplay Sliders

I just finished the game, I was Reds playing against the Mets and Pedro.

Here are the results, EVEN THOUGH I need to be more patient at batting. I only got 1 hit off pedro and all of my contact hits only made it far inside the infield. Not a single one went to the outfield. I need to work on that.

Pedro pitched a 1 hitter shutout, 9 K. I have seen a difference as the game progressed....Pedro was dominating the game till around 6th inning, he started to throw more balls. Awesome!

Milton pitched 6 innings, 2 walks and allowing 2 homeruns from Reyes (He's a player of the game--- 2/4 with a homerun, 4 rbi, and a stolen base) and Beltran.

I put in Hancock to relieve Milton and he pitched 3 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run and a walk.

    Mets 5
    Reds 0

Game is a lot better and realistic! I'm going to work more on my hitting, and more patience at the plate will help. Thanks for the sliders!

One thing I wanna ask about, pared....

How do I get K's from my pitchers? Do I have to adjust some sliders or do I just need to work on my pitching around the zone to put some K's on the board?

        Thanks!

Is there an option to keep the strike zone on for batting, but off for pitching?

Amen, dude! (Or dudess...I'm ASSuming male). I can hack pitching without all that, but it's taking me more than ten games just to stop flailing around like an ADHD kid on a six pack of JOLT without that strike zone box. I don't know why its infinitely harder for me to hit without it, but maybe for the sake of realism and my own pride I'll put in another 10 games of practice. If I can't hit the Mendoza line AS A TEAM by then, I'll just say "whack it" and throw that humble cruch back up there and TEACH myself to pitch more balls.

Actually with the CPU contact (and power?) sliders up a bit from zero, you BETTER learn to throw out of the strike zone and "judiciously" walk your fair share or else they'll hang up more crooked numbers on you than the Social Security Office. Hey...that's a cool simile...9 #s in the SSI...9 innings....I'm A GENIUS!!!! Thank you...you may use this simile for a small fee!

I had 5 doubles, 1 Triple, and Kevin Millar went 5 for 5 and hit for the cycle! Mueller had a homerun for me and Ortiz had two doubles. The final score for 11-5 with the yankees getting 12 hits of their own. The point is, I was hitting line drive gappers, off the wall shots, down the line shots for doubles, it was great, my best offensive game yet.

I also made little changes here and there, but otherwise sliders are great so far!! Thank You!
I was having the problem with no doubles as well. I lowered the CPU OF speed to -10. I am also growing tired of the numerous lineouts to the infielders. I lowered their speed to -10 also. Problem solved. My first game was Indians vs. Twins. Probably the best all around game I've played since I've had the game. Twins 7 Indians 4. The Twinks had 4 doubles and the Indians had 2. Each team had a solo HR and the game was tied 4-4 in the 8th when the Twins exploded for 3.

Give it and shot. It's worth a try.

Pared, does it make any difference with your sliders if I turned on the strike zone? I'm having a difficult time with hitting, especially scoring runs.

I'm also questioning the stamina for pitchers. For me, my pitcher(Jason Marquis) tired out pretty quickly(5th-6th inning).

My plate discipline has improved just a touch, but I still need to work on it. Without the strike zone, it makes it more difficult for me to read whether to swing or not. That's most likely why I'm having problems.
