This is petty, but one of the things that bugs me about Jon Miller is the way he pronounces some guys' names.

Jon Miller has a great voice and all, but he does one thing that really annoys me. A pitch is on it's way, and he'd yell out something like "and it's a CHANGEUP!" I don't know, I know he is appealing to a more national audience, some of which may not know the game well, but even if it's in the third inning, he will yell what pitch it was sometimes. Yeah, what a boring rant.

Buck/McCarver are so awful that I watch those games with the sound off. So I can't really provide any specific examples on how bad they are.

Orsillo and Remy do it for me, they aren't fabulous, but they get the job done. Plus it's pretty funny when they laugh for like 2 straight innings about nothing.

This is one of the reasons I enjoy Miller. He pronounces Hispanic players names correctly. He doesn't sound like a gringo, and clearly has the Spanish accent down correctly. Miller pronounces the name the way they were intended to, and it might not mean much to most, but I view it as a sign of respect to the heritage of a player. This tells me Miller cares about little details, and is another reason why I enjoy listening to his broadcasts...

I agree, I've always liked that about him.

My favorite is still Harry Kalas.

That's one of the best things about Jon Miller. I remember a couple or so years ago ESPN even went through the trouble of spelling the names of the latin and hispanic players the way it should written with the symbols and such. (sorry the technical names for them escapes my mind)

                    Re: Best/Worst Broadcasters

I lived in So Cal for a while, and I gotta say that the Angels guys, especially Rex Hudler, are horrible. I'm probably a little biased, being an A's fan, but Hudler is just an idiot. I can't remember the last interesting or thought-provoking thing he ever said. And I know that you are covering Angels games, with mostly Angels fans watching, but, you know, there is another team playing, and spending just a couple of minutes on them would be nice, once in a while. I don't need to here a 3 minute piece on how great and important Vlad is for the 150th friggin time.

OK, rant over. As far as good guys, Kuiper and Krukow are excellent, and I do enjoy listening to the guys on TBS. Vin Scully is alright, but Charlie Steiner and his partener have grown on me recently, and I do prefer a 2-man announce team. Joe Buck is good, but I hear enough of him during the football season. By the World Series, I'm really sick of him.

Bob Uecker and Jim Powell are definitely among the best. Many times I mute the TV and turn the radio on when watching Brewer games. They are a pleasure to listen to.

I can't stand Bob Brenly. He always states the obvious. I miss listening to Chip Caray and Steve Stone on the Cubs broadcasts.

Joe Buck isn't as bad as people make him out to be. McCarver is the worst baseball analyst ever.
Jon Miller is probably my favorite. He has a very calm demeanor and he's exciting even though he doesn't have to raise his voice. Joe Morgan also does a good job.

Thom Brenaman is also good as well.

You make a very good point about that. Miller is the best in the business.

The Cubs announcers stink so bad. Kasper sounds annoying on his HR calls.

too bad you guys couldn't understand Montreal Expos's french radio broadcaster Rodger Brulotte ...he actually made Expos games entertaining ( especially the last seasons ).
