Oddly enough, it was just announced that also today Brett Boone was released (or designated for assignment) & that Bonds says he's taking the advice of his docs & may not play at all this year. HHMMMMMMM......

If he really did take steroids intentionally... this really craps on a year when you get you get 3,000th hit and I have lost all respect for him.

Now I am not a Palmeiro fan nor a ***** of his... but I just wanted to throw this idea out there. Is it possible the MLB... being comprised of shady upper hand guys... set up Palmeiro so that everyone would get off their back about no big names being caught? Palmeiro would be a perfect target too... he was involved in the Congressional hearings... but he wasn't a maing uy accused such as Bonds, Giambi, and Sosa. There would be no fit thrown by him like there would be with Bonds and he's not in a huge media market like Giambi.

Of course I;m not saying that I believe thats what happened... but does anyoen think theres a possibility.

We're never going to know the real story until many many years from now when Raffy is out of baseball and in/permanently out of the HOF and he can tell his story.

I also agree with the whole Rose/Palmeiro arguement. How can a guy who gambled on baseball... which in no way helped him get in the Hall not be in when a guy who's actions contributed to his chances of getting can get in. I'm a huge Rose ***** too but that really bothers me.

Why does MLB continue to have themselves test the urine? Why is this not sent to an independent lab to keep out the idea of people getting off?

MLB better look at the WADA rules and use them in the future. No reason to have HGH illegal with no possible way to test it in urine. Do blood tests.

Here is the link to the WADA rules and regulations on drugs.

That's pretty far out there, and would be absolutely disgusting if true, but I seriously doubt it. An event like this does strengthen Selig's case that the system is working, but that's minor when faced with the problem that one of the league's best players just got caught cheating. It gets people thinking that maybe Canseco was right all along, and maybe all those players really are on steroids. In the long run it only cripples the game even more.

I've wrote twice about this and that Jose as on Sporting News radio and he's saying the exact same thing you were saying.

most likely he took something else that triggered the positive test result. I don't think he was "set up" by baseball though, that is just nuts.

The only thing I can think of is that he took it before the congressional hearings and that the roids stayed in his metabolism and when he got tested it showed up positive.

If they wanted to set someone up, I doubt they would choose a guy who has been outspoken against steroids, and who also just joined a very elite club (500 HR, 3,000 H). I think they would've chosen someone with a little bit lower profile, like a Juan Gonzalez, or someone like that.

Also if this was a set up, I think they would've announced it earlier, rather than allow him to go through the appeal or whatever first.

i didnt mean it to the degree of conspiracy, just tot he fact theres no way in hell dumb enough to be roiding it up now. and do we have any idea of how long ago the sample is from?

Now if only they can find 'roids in Juan Gonzalez's system, kick him out of the league, and give the Indians a refund for that dud of a contract
