Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
Yes, it is. But, like I pointed out back on page one, unless MLB can prove that his urine/blood sample was submitted prior to his testimonial, there really isn't anything to prove that he wasn't using steroids at the time he made his declaration that he wasn't. If he was tested after he was called to the Senate subcommittee, then there is certainly nothing at all that can be done about his "lying" to the government, because there is nothing to prove he actually was.Originally posted by fishepaIsn't it against the law to lie to Congress?Comment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
for all those that don't think he's gonna get into the hall of fame... yeah fat chance there, one of 4 ever to have 3,000 and 500. Even without steroids he'd have the numbers for the hall. At most this delays him for a couple years. Come on people think.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
I can't say I'm at all surprised. Either way, he still deserves to go to cooperstown because honestly if you keep him out because of steroids then they're trying to fight a battle they won't be able to win. How exactly do we know some of the people in the hall RIGHT NOW didn't use steroids?I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can'tComment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
But, how many of those 3018 hits and 569 homers can be proven legit? Sure, it's very exclusive company he is a part of, but we don't know if he even got their naturally.Originally posted by Superstarfor all those that don't think he's gonna get into the hall of fame... yeah fat chance there, one of 4 ever to have 3,000 and 500. If the other three players had the same, uh, "opportunity" as Palmeiro would the 3K and 500 marks even hold any statistical significance?Comment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
I read somewhere that Raffy even admitted that all his homer sweren't moon shots. Only 5th row type homers. So the roids might contribute to him turning some long gappers into HR's.
I think Raffy is more of a HOF'er than the overrated Sosa though. Sosa was average at best untill 1998-2001. Apart form HR numbers, he was preety decent, but nothing great. He K'ed too much and never walked, which is shocking considering his lofty HR totals.Comment

Have they tested positive for steroids? No.Originally posted by Superstarfine do Barry, Mark, and Sosa not deserve to go either?
Do we have hard proof that Palmeiro has cheated at at least one point in his career? Yes.
Would I be disappointed to see the aforementioned three in the Hall given all that has happened? Yes. But, until there is solid evidence of their steroid use, there really isn't anything that can be done about it.
Palmeiro is now a known cheater, that is a HUGE stigma, even when placed side-by-side to those who are only alleged users.Comment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
Bonds already admitted to using roids. "Unkowingly"Have they tested positive for steroids? No.
Sosa- He goes from 40 to than has 2 straight 60 HR seasons, a 50 HR season, then 64. Then he drops to hitting only in the 40's. Now he looks as thin as he was when he was a White Sock
Mcgwire-LMAO. Congressional hearings.Comment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
Yes, but we don't know for absolute certain that these players used steroids, you cannot dispute that. Today's relevations completely strips Palmeiro of being able to claim the same.Originally posted by Vinceanity2k3Bonds already admitted to using roids. "Unkowingly"

Barry? Leaked testimony supposedly says that he admitted to "unknowingly" used steroids. This is all second- and third-hand information, however. There is a source in the Bay Area who is/was leaking this information from confidential documents to a newspaper. I believe Barry used steroids as much as the next guy, but until I hear the recorded comments he made on the matter or see the actual court documents themself, it all remains speculation and hearsay unfortunately.
Sammy? Yes, all signs do point to yes, but he is probably the one figure that we know absolutely nothing about. He wasn't involved in BALCO, wasn't outted in Canseco's book (though he speculates), and no one has spoken up saying they were his supplier or dealer. While we all may "know" that Sammy used steroids, we don't actually KNOW anything.
Mac? Yes, he all but outted himself in front of Congress with his holier-than-thou mentality, but other than the words of a few questionable sources in Canseco and a few others, we don't actually KNOW that he used either.
There is no smoking gun in any of those three cases. We can all assume and speculate all we want, but we do not have a positive drug test and confirmation from Major League Basbeall on any of those three.Comment

It's not just the homers and base hits that he got that will be scrutinized, it'll be whatever he does after suspension.Originally posted by RattDaddeeBut, how many of those 3018 hits and 569 homers can be proven legit? I can't throw my support behind him to get into the Hall of Fame. If I can't throw my support behind the other guys in the whole steroid probe, I can't support Palmeiro.Comment

Re: Palmeiro tests positive for steroids
I think the only point worth mentioning is that we don't know when this urine test was administered. Maybe it was done before the hearings and they just announced it (for whatever reason)?Originally posted by RattDaddeeYes, it is. I just can't believe a guy would stand up in front of congress and claim his innocence so forcefully and then use steroids after that. Something seems amiss in this story IMO...Comment
