This brings us to the bigger point. If these 2 big names are indeed announced, is it good or bad for baseball? I think you could make a reasonable argue in either direction.

At first thought you'd have to think it was good, because it shows that even big players are getting caught and that the system might actually work.

But then it hits you that if a guy like Jeter is caught using steroids, absolutely anyone could be on it and that might diminish how people look at the game.

It's a lose-lose situation for some.

It would more then likely hurt the game in the short term. The media would almost immediately start calling out the Union for dragging its feet on stiffer punishments and congress will more then likely push for a more stringent drug testing policy.

As I said earlier this week I think WADA and Dick Pound should handle the drug testing for MLB. At least that would take out the perception of "the cops policing the cops" argument that you often get in this situation.

I'm going to say it's bad for baseball if somebody like Jeter, A-Rod, etc get caught. I think the wheels were already in motion for Congress to step in after this season and force a tougher testing program. Having somebody like Jeter, who isn't one of the usual suspects, would completely destroy what little confidence fans still have in MLB.

Anyways, I'd be absolutely DEVASTATED if it was Jeter or Rivera. The memories those two have provided me with already, are endless.

I think it's gonna be Clemens for sure, which wouldnt bother me tooooo much, and I said Tejada but that was just to be different. I dont know who the second one can be. What about Frank Thomas?

I highly doubt its Jeter, he doesn't hit for enough power to seem like hes juiced. I dont have much basis for any prediction, but Piazza or Arod (if its a NY guy) seem right, dont know who else.

One of the benefits of steroids is it allows players to remain fresh over the course of a season. As Curt Schilling said, they make people feel like every day is opening day. It's not all about power, although chicks do dig the long ball.
