I don't put much stock into Kay's credibility or any other person affiliated with the Al-Yankzeera network. Did anybody else hear this guy mention this? Something like that would have been leaked to other sources by now, and I haven't heard about it anywhere else. I guess we have to wait and see, but I doubt it very much, though nothing would bring me more pleasure than to see one of the members of the Axis Of Evil, (Sheffield, Giambi or Rodriguez) testing positive.

Gammons said something similar early in the week. There was also an article in the Boston Herald with similar rumors. You'll find them both here:

Just once I would love to see a writer or announcer who has some big news like this put their money where there mouth is and put some pressure on MLB by saying they will come clean with who it if nothing happens. I dont believe this Michael Kay guy at all.

there is no way griffey is on steriods. i think maybe giambi, i dont think he has that stupid though after what has already happened to him and his health. it would definetly explain his recent hot streak though.

I don't think there is any way a natural talent like a rod or pujols or griffey is on roids plus that would be terrible for baseball. I hope Jeter is on roids becasue that would be even worse for baseball even though all the Derek Jeter haters would love it. I think if Derek Jeter got caught it would be a bad time in baseball where people would and could basically speculate that anyone was on steroids because Jeter seemed like he wasn't. Anyway my 2 choices are Roger Clemens and Tejeda.

Well these are rumors circulating around the media. If they had something concrete, I guarantee you'd see a report with an "unnamed source."

Well according to the first post in this thread Michael Kay knows who they are. I dont really believe him but if its true I would love to see him put pressure on MLB to come clean. The fact that they released that statement yesterday makes me believe that if this is true and Michael Kay threatened to name names MLB would release the names to try to save face. Of course all of that is IMO. I just hope that we hear something either way today.

Off topic a little bit, but the two threads on this topic show how great the Baseball section is on these boards. There is plenty of speculation going on and for the most part there havent been any flame wars about people guessing who is on steroids etc.... Also, I feel that the discussion has been very interesting and fun to read. Here's to keeping the baseball forum the best and most underrated on OS

I agree 100% that this Michael Kay guy doesnt know. I hope something comes of those though because most likely it is true that at least one megastar has tested positive and if MLB plans to sweep it under the rug it might be a future disaster as this stuff tends to come out at some point.

I'm on egg shells with this stuff. It makes me wonder. Have any other guys like Palmerio, Franklin, and Rincon have their information leaked? I didnt hear about any of them until I turned on SC or ESPNews...Im kind of wondering why one radio personality would 'know who' the 2 MLB 'stars' are. Just doesnt make sense anymore.

I would be way stoked if someone gets caught. But honestly when I think about it. Baseball has to be gaining in popularity even if this whole steroid issue is in a negative light. I wonder if MLB's attendance has increased? Anyways down with Clemens(ray and whoever else...

For those who aren't familiar with Michael Kay... hes a moron and very overdramatic.


While that is true... I can't believe he would make as bold of a statement as this and it not be true. He gets a lot of crap from papers who criticize him and his melodramatic opinions and when he and the guys on Mike and the Mad Dog got into a little spat on the air for a while... most people agreed with them and not Kay.

Especially he works closely with ESPN and he talks to a lot of guys in the Yankees front office and I just think he wouldn't say this if he didn't mean it for fear he would be destroyed by the papers here for false reports.


I still feel stongly that it'll be a Yankee but as I've been saying... the guy I know who works in baseball said it would be a Yankee pitcher caught... and unless its Mo (which I pray it isnt) I dont know what HOF would be caught in NY besides Piazza.

Could RJ be a possibility? Personally, I hope this is nothing more than rumors. If somebody like RJ, Mo, Jeter, Piazza, etc were to get caught, it would be very bad for baseball.
