Also you should know better that the salaries are all paid in U.S. Dollars. I also wouldn't be so smug about it as the Canadian dollar is kicking butt all over the place compared to the U.S. Dollar going down the tubes. Oh yeah in 1993 (just 12 short years ago) the Blue Jays had the highest payroll in all of MLB.
But there are tax consequences to playing in Canada, no? I think the other thing about canada is the weather but who knows if thats an issue for Konerko. On that note, being diverse may not mean anything to him either. Also, I think Konerko is married to Steve Lyons daughter and I think she has roots in Illinois so that may factor in.

All I gotta say is please Paulie, dont leave. Its hard to replace 40 dingers and 100 RBIs in a lineup. I pray that Williams pays him whatever he wants. He's basically the franchise right now.

I fully expect Steiny to be making a run at him, since Tino is out of the picture and Giambi isn't going to cut it as a full time 1B.

As talented as Konerko is, frankly I don't want him. I want homegrown talent, so I don't have to hear about buying a championship.

The only person I really want the Yanks to push is Juan Pierre because they would make a ton of sense for the lineup, with him leading off and Jeter going back to #2.

What other 1B are available besides Konerko this season? Is Aubrey Huff a FA?

I thought the Yanks bought all they're pennants and chamionships??

BTW, beware, I've watched Paulie for a while now. When dude goes on a cold streak, he's really freaking cold. I mean pop out and double play cold. Just something for teams to consider. He may bring in a guaranteed 40 and 100 but who knows how a change of place might effect him.

Haven't won a championship since 2000, and none of those guys on that roster were overpaid superstars. It was full of guys that were homegrown with not an overly large ammount of talent but when placed together, became a TEAM, which was enough to win those championships.

Has George tried since 2000 by waving cash at every guy out there...sure.

Has it succeeded...absolutely not. The guys he got weren't meant to hit in October. Plus, he somehow forgot that these guys do get older and aren't going to produce at the same level as before.

I think Konerko will stay along with almost every player on the team. As you saw this year, its all about chemistry and I know for a fact that neither Kenny Williams nor Ozzie would want to break up this team.

The only 2 players I can see leaving would be Damasao Marte or Vizcaino via a trade. They have been the only 2 pitchers that havent been effective, and Marte has been a problem to the team.

Also, with the emergence of Jenks as the closer, Hermanson is now the middle reliever, along with Cotts and Polite being the setup men.

Winning a WS can wreak havoc on team chemistry. All of a sudden you have an entire team of players who think they're underpaid. I don't think Konerko has any strict loyalty to the White Sox since he's not from that area. I'm not sure who his agent is, but if they're halfway decent Konerko will sign with whoever pays him the most money, which I doubt will be the White Sox.

Toronto didn't keep Delgado because of payroll limitations at the time. Delgado wanted to stay but the Marlin's offer blew away the Jays offer.

Some players do want to go to Toronto or stay there. A perfect example is Halladay. He signed a long term deal and loves the city of Toronto.

As for Konerko, I see him staying with the White Sox. He's probably going to pull in a 52mil/4 yr contract.

I know this is an MLB board, but Ray Allen and Corey Maggette have stated that they would love to play for the Toronto Raptors. Those are two really big name players.

Whether doesn't really play a huge factor, at least not for Baseball players as it does for Hoopstars. I know in the NBA, so many players don't want to play in cold whether cities. But really, the whether in Toronto is no worse than what you'll see in Chi-Town, Minnesota, Boston and most of the northeast.

And don't most players on Canadian teams live in the states in the offseason anyways?

For those that do, I couldn't imagine weather being too much of a factor, since the weather is just dandy during the majority of the season.

Yes winning a WS can wreak havow on Team Chemistry, but this team is slightly different. Everyone knows their part, and best of all, there isnt any huge ego's going around the White Sox clubhouse. Ozzie has made it clear that if you think your above anybody on the team, then you dont belong on the team.

And honestly, if Paulie wants to leave because of the $$, then so be it. But just remember, that we also have all that money from Frank Thomas, who either will take a paycut, or just be cut in general. All that money will be used to resign Paulie and anybody else whos in their last year of their contract.

Also El Duke, as good as he is, may not be back next season due to the emergence of Brandon McCarthy. Hes, I think owed 6-7 million. So believe me, the Sox will have plenty of money to go around.

Sorry if I went overboard about that. I'm pretty mellow but if it's one thing that's certain to get me going it's talking bad about Canadian teams.

BTW jack Morris, Dave Winfield and Paul Molitor all wanted to come to Toronto. That was only 12-13 years ago. Things run in cycles, 20 years ago no one wanted to go to Seattle and Cleveland.

Something tells me that he will resign. He just had his first child and is friends with everyone on the team. He also loves playing for Ozzie.
