Channel 5 just confirmed that the Shaughnessy article was the last straw. It was slanted in favor of Luchino and Theo apparently thinks Larry leaked all that and was furious about it. They offered him $1.5mil for 3 years so money wasn't the issue.

Here's the CHB article for those who are interested.

The worst part could be that our new GM is going to be like Ken Macha in Oakland...a figurehead with no say. Instead of playing by the number according to Billy, we'll just listen to the brass...which by the way is the model Cashman is held hostage to. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't help but overreact a little. Many conspiracies in my head right now...let me tell you.

I wouldn't be surprised if the curse inventing b@stard made a deal with the devil when new management got here because of all the power the Globe wields in this town. Heads need to roll, starting at the top.

Just read the article...isn't it convenient that Dan lists "trying to trade Manny" as the 1st thing Theo should do now that he presumably re-signed. Holy freakin' conspiracy, wow this makes me mad!!

No kidding. Whenever the Red Sox are losing/getting rid of somebody Shaughnessy always seems to be there to write a negative article about them. Nomar, Pedro, Manny, Theo. The NY Times, who owns the Globe also owns 17% of the Red Sox. Coincidence?

Don't know what fantasy world you're living in but Manny isn't going to be "signing" with another team any time soon. He's not going to be released.

Sorry for not clarifying, I meant being traded.

I just have one question for Sox fans, do you guys want to keep manny around with all the baggage he carries with him?

Depends who we get in return.

He seems like a perfect fit in LA.
