If a trade could make you no longer be a fan of a team, you may not really be a fan. I don't want to see Prior go for anyone but I wouldn't cease to be a Cubs fan if it happened.

How many times has Prior been hurt? Twice? (That i can remember)

And one of those times was a broken wrist which was the result of being hit by a line drive. Doesn't sound like injury prone to me.

Kerry Wood should be used for this trade instead of Prior, but I think there some type of clause in his contract about trading him.

Wood doesn't have nearly the trade value Prior does, thats why he isn't in the trade. Cubs fans always think other teams will take their trash and value it (see Patterson, Wood, etc...)

Kerry Wood is not Mark Prior. There is a reason he is not mentioned in this trade, because no one in their right mind would trade Miguel Tejada/Manny and get Kerry Wood in return. They would be fired on the spot.

As for the Cubs, when have we seen them exercise good judgement when it come to making trades (Dontrelle Willis). And anyone who thinks Tejada for Prior isn't a fair trade needs their head examined.
Come on man! Who knew that Willis was going to be as good as he was? I mean he was a good prospect but him being the player he is now was not expected. Clement for Willis at that time was a good trade. If you think Jim Hendry would give up a Great young power pitcher in Mark Prior for Miggy when they have a pretty good young shortstop in Ronny Cedeno is crazy. Maybe Dusty Baker would but he is not making those decisions ( Thank God).

You Boston fans and us Cubs fans are too much alike. I know if I was in your shoes I would be saying the same thing you are, so don't take it personal.

If Tejada goes to the Cubs it will be just straight up with Chicago. Chicago thinks Baltimore is asking for too much, which they should be.

Prior has been the only name mentioned from the Cubs so far, but the O's had better be getting more than him. Chicago wants Bedard as well.
Yeah I think the straight up trade is a better idea. I mean the O's need pitching not Manny Ramirez. I don't see the cubs giving up Prior up without getting Bedard in return either.

Chicago shouldnt have to give up more than Prior to get Tejada. As I see it (and correct me if I'm wrong), the O's need pitching more than the Cubs need a top-flight SS. Mark Prior, when healthy, has the ability to be the best pitcher in baseball. That's hard to come by. Tejada is amazing, dont get me wrong, but the Cubbies shouldnt have to throw in more than that.

One big reason why this trade should not be made. After a couple of days of thought, I still think the Cubs would be stupid to do this. They need Prior badly. Even if they get Bedard back their rotation would be a joke and you would have the return of the summer of swag. Losing 12-10 10-9 games daily. I dont want that garbage back.

For Tejada??? Yeah right. Prior for Tejada would be a good trade straight up but it risky for both teams. What if Prior never stays healthy? Or what if he becomes a cy young winner? Either way as an O's fan I would pull the trigger on this trade.

Another good possible trade IMO would be Garland, Uribe, and Brandon McCarthy for Tejada/Bedard (the White Sox are interested in Tejada) but Garland signing a new deal might just put an end to any deal with the Whitesox.

As long as we don't trade Tejada for Manny I will be happy. I don't want an unhappy player on the team but Tejada is amazing and we should get only a cy-young quality pitcher in return.

How old is Prior and how old is Tejada? One is a starting pitcher the other is a shortstop in his early 30s. Bad idea. Who's floating these rumors anyway? Is this a Larry Lucchino fabrication to make it look like hes trying to be productive (as a way of saving face)?

Tejada is an amazingly durable 29 year old shortstop (last time he missed more then 3 games was in 1998) who plays great defense and is a rbi machine on offense.

While Prior is 24 year old pitcher who has amazing talent but also a history of injury problems.

I think this trade is very fair and helps both teams but the O's need a SP more then the Cubs need a SS.

is pretty informative about the Prior situation even though it's not completly true.

Gammons is reporting that the Orioles are "seriously weighing" a proposal by the Sox that would send Manny and Clement for Tejada. There are potential deal killers, like trading within the division and the money difference, but seeing that no one has met their demands, the Sox could still be in the running. Posted today in the Insider rumor page...
