Uh...why would the Indians want Shoppach? They already have V-Mart at catcher and Hafner as DH...If they do get him I think they'll trade him for something else.

We need a backup catcher you know... and it's good to have a good back up. I have no problem trading quite possibly the worst hitting catcher ever in Bard for a back up with a decent stick like Shoppach.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Boston to trade Marte and Mota for Crisp
Originally posted by rsoxTaguchi would make a nice 4th Outfielder, but not a starting Centerfielder. At 36 it is unlikely that Taguchi will improve beyond what we have already seen. I'm not going to say that Taguchi is or is not an upgrade over Stern-because we don't know what Stern can do, 15 AB's is not enough to indicate what kind of a player Stern is, or will be.Comment

The Sox and Indians are close to completing their much-discussed, multi-player trade in which the Sox will acquire Crisp to be their new center fielder, FOXSports.com has learned.
The exact particulars of the Red Sox-Indians trade are not known, but it is expected that the Indians will receive top third-base prospect Andy Marte and reliever Guillermo Mota.Comment

Rhodes to the phillies is done, so now the indians have Michaels, so now they are working on the Boston deal it is confirmed that is done on espn.com(the rhodes deal that is), also Jake Westbrook for Austin Kearns is heating back up and could also go through soon.Comment

From what I hear on http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2308605
Manny D is not in the deal but some other prospect or cash is in the deal.Comment

Re: Boston to trade Marte and Mota for Crisp
Originally posted by CWood2I think what he means is that we don't have to find the future of our center field position this offseason when it will cost us an arm, a leg, and a kidney. Even without Delcarmen in the deal, Shapiro has taken away an option in Michaels and is beating us to Kearns according to varying reports. I don't like negotiating with this guy, and even if Payton isn't your answer, I have to think a guy like Brad Wilkerson could come at Clement/Shoppach/cash. Even if Marte belly flops and Crisp is the next Damon (which he isn't), these trade talks have been a mockery.
Shows how desperate the Red Sox are at getting Crisp though, I am kind of surprised they are going along with it all, but then again Shapiro isn't a push over like some might think that is why I love him as a GM.Comment

It's believed they have offered to included a prospect other than Delcarmen, plus some sort of future considerations if Mota has any significant health issues during the season.Comment
