Shelton will cool off, i mean he was in the 5 draft rule or w/e its called, he wouldnt of been placed there if he was decent, they would of noticed his talent hes getting lucky give it a week or so.

      Rule V Draft

There have been many players taken from the Rule V Draft that came out of nowhere to be superstars. The best example is George Bell who eventually won the MVP in 1987.

Hell, Pat Gillick made a living off of the Rule V Draft with the Jays.

yah theres 160 players each year what are the chances of being superstars like .1 out of that, but you never know that was just my opinion.......its too early to tell.

I'm not saying it's easy. It takes a lot of scouting and homweork to find a diamond in the rough. I'm just saying that he could be one of those diamonds.

I hope Dave Littlefield wakes up in night sweats everytime someone mentions Chris Shelton.

I don't really agree with the part that he's getting lucky. He'll slowdown, but it doesn't mean he's not a good player and is getting lucky (look at his stats last year in limited time as well - very productive and successful). He is a good MLB quality player who should have a productive career. He was the Pirates Minor League Player of the Year a few years back - before they left him unprotected to the Rule V draft.

He wasn't protected from the Rule V draft because the Pirates are a poorly run organization and made a huge mistake in not protecting him and a few others that year. That year out of the top 6 players chosen in the Rule V draft, 5 were Pirates. The GM of the Pirates has stated many times that he made a huge mistake in regards to the Rule V draft that year.

add another one, this guy is gonna hit all season, he uses the whole field I don't think he'll hit 40 bombs but he should keep seeing pitches to hit with the line-up the tigers can put out there.

I think I might reconsider my number and put it at 23.

He's having a hot start like Derek Lee had last year. It will burn off around June/July.

Last post on this thread was April 18th, here's his numbers since that day.

Shelton is 5-for-42 (.119) with one home run and three RBI over the past 13 games dating back to April 18.

Happens every year as I said.

                            Exactly.

I expect a .260/19/65 year from him. That's just me though.
Hmm, that's what I said he would do after his hot start, not sure. I think maybe a little more on the HR numbers. We will have ot wait and see.

                              I still think he's a legit .300 - 30 HR - 90 RBI guy (as I said).

                                Thread Title: Chris Shelton

                                Who???

I am surprise by the Tigers though. Maybe Shelton is doing a Kobe and decided to be a team player instead of hitting monster home runs every game. But I highly doubt the Tigers can keep this up. I bet they fall faster than Shelton has.
