Re: Chris Shelton
April: .326, 10 HR, 20 RBI, 17 R
May: .286, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 9 R
June: .205, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 12 R
July: .367, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 2 R
His pace has now dropped to...
30 HRs, 78 RBI, .318
I don't think he is going to come close to that. I bet he will finish with 20-25 HRs, 65-70 RBI, .290-.300...
EG called it, amongst others.Comment

Re: Chris Shelton
You're absolutely right. I remember seeing more than a couple of posts on this board where some of the guys were wayyyyyyyy besides themselves with Shelton's blazing start. You'd think that folks would know better.
I always say that if you're someone who can't help himself in wanting to know (which is impossible) how a player's stats will 'project', at MINIMUM, wait until the All-Star break to have a somewhat better idea. Then you can doule a players' numbers and have that to work with. One month's projections surely are out of line.

Re: Chris Shelton
thats my point....historically...barring injury, one-shot phenoms and the like, the All Star break is more of a realistic gauge of a player than month #1.
They play more than half the season....by what? 7 games....the Mets played 89...no big deal....you simply do your pro-rating after game #82...ya know? lol

Re: Chris Shelton
To make room for Casey, Detroit optioned the contract of first baseman Chris Shelton to Triple-A Toledo. Shelton is hitting .277 with 16 home runs and 45 RBI.
At this point it looks like even the pessimistic predictions were too high.Last edited by Stu; 07-31-2006, 10:32 AM.Comment

Re: Chris Shelton
HAHA...this guy was put in a poll for ESPN.com in which they asked who they would want to build a franchise with for 1B. Albert Pujols, Derek Lee, Paul Konerko, Carlos Delgado, Chris Shelton. Im pretty sure those were the choices, but I know for a fact Chris Shelton was on it.Comment
