Re: Ozzie at it again....
it takes a pretty thin skinned person to really care about someone saying a word like "***" , especially when it wasnt even used to offend a group. But it doesnt matter, I guess I was just brought up not to take everything so personal and so seriously and to lay back and brush stuff off that doesnt physically hurt someone.Comment

Re: Ozzie at it again....
Originally posted by MagicBucsWsoxFanthats honestly, a pretty common word when people are upset.
Ozzie might not have meant it as a way to insult an entire group, but that's exactly what that word does. I don't get why this is so hard to understand. It's a deragatory term used to describe a group of people with a different lifestyle than most. Since it's against the TOS I can't list all the other deragatory terms used to describe other races, religions etc...., but it's not much different.
It has nothing to do with being thin skinned, but having to do with having common courtesy towards others.
Ozzie should just be lucky he lives in the MLB Bubble. Otherwise, he'd be on the street looking for a new job.Comment

Re: Ozzie at it again....
Originally posted by MagicBucsWsoxFanyet its still funny i havent heard any complaint out of the actual group it apparently offended. Just the people with too much power, and guys who have something against Ozzie or the white sox.
"This isn't a free-speech issue. No one is suggesting Guillen be jailed for his remarks. This also isn't a P.C. deal. It's merely about good business. Those in baseball can't be allowed to insult the paying customers of any race, religion, ethnic group or sexual orientation. Gay rights activists everywhere have expressed their outrage with Guillen and pointed out correctly that this isn't the first time he has been accused of making anti-gay remarks."
Seriously what are the activists going to do? Hold a press conference on ESPN to show their displeasure? Show up at every White Sox game and picket? Write a letter to MLB and demand Ozzie's firing? With little to no resources, I'm sure they've done some stuff, but it's not likely to be very public.
For me, this isn't about having something against the White Sox or Guillen. I dislike Guillen, but I'd say the same about Bill Cowher if he made the same statement. Fortunately he's not that dumb. I have nothing against the White Sox at all. Don't like them, don't hate them, but that's how I feel about every team aside from my team (and I'm starting to dislike the way my team is run more and more every losing year that goes by).Comment

Re: Ozzie at it again....
Well like I said way before, maybe its just because im a straight male that was brought up in a house and with friends that dont have a problem with that word. Maybe its because im one of those people who doesnt have anything against Gay's just as long as they dont display it toward me, I dont know. Im just the type to brush it off since its nothing I havent said and havent heard a bunch of times before so I guess it doesnt bother me.Comment

Re: Ozzie at it again....
Probably it. I'm a straight caucasian male, but I have problems with any type of slur. I know if I would've used that word when I was younger, I would've had a bar of soap in my mouth or been spanked. Just raised in an environment where things like that weren't tolerated.
Maybe it's just a matter of an age difference.Comment

I dont think of my parents as racists, even though this might come off as racists, but its never talked about, but pretty much known in my house that, its "wrong" to be gay. Also they would never critisize, never mock, never call names to african americans, but they do avoid them as much as they can. Me im different in the sense that I have african american friends, and with gay people I dont mind them as long as they dont act it around me.Comment

First of all I said my parents, second of all, you dont know me so to judge me is quite wrong.
How do you know my parents arnt just scared? Im sure you must know some parts of chicago the reputations of african americans is of being aggresive and extreamly dangerous. I believe they have a right to feel how they feel, but as long as they dont talk about or act on it then its not as bad as you guys claim.Comment
