Re: A.J. Pierzynski and Nomar Garciaparra won Final Ballot

For the record, anybody who says the team with the best record should have homefield in the World Series isn't thinking it out.

If the Mets finish this year with 100 wins and 62 losess, and the White Sox finish the year with 97 wins and 65 losses, should the Mets be awarded home field advantage? No, they shouldn't because the competition is not equivalent. To me, those 97 White Sox wins in the brutal AL central is far more meaningful than the Mets piling up wins against the horrific Braves and mediocre Nationals, Marlins, Phillies, et al.

I think that in the year 2006, having overall season record determine WS homefield is the worst possible idea because the leagues are so unbalanced.

Maybe playoff record with some additional tie breakers should determine home field. I don't know. Certainly not overall record. Of course, what was wrong with the old method: alternating each year? I guess it's a bit arbitrary for a seemingly important element..

Give it time? He helped us win us a WS...we will never learn to hate him, hes going to stay a White Sox for a long time...his arm is alot better then most cathers...he threw out speedy Corey Patterson yesterday, and our SPs dont help the cause with their slow windups(besides Buerhrle)

That is why they should have keep it like they had it! But baseball saw that no one care about the All star Game! So they had this bone head idea!

Well, you could say that about Konerko, we would be where the Indians are now, maybe worse. Its not my fault Hafner has no pitching...If his record was as good as ours, and they won the WS last year, he would win it over Konerko.

Agreed. How about records in interleague play? There has to be a better way. I'd be in favor of going back to alternating years rather than using the all star game

No he wouldn't have. Konerko was taken by Gullien, Gullien wouldn't have picked Hafner if the two teams records were switched right now, and the two players had the same exact stats.

My only hope is the AL is leading in the bottom of the 9th, Gullien brings in AJP and Jenks to close out the game and be the replacement catcher, and the NL wins the game. I honestly hope that happens...I don't care if it costs the Red Sox a chance to have homefield(if they even sniff the playoffs, which is another story altogether.) I think that'd just be a very fitting end to this horrible story.

Interleague play could do it. AL owned the NL this year. AL should get homefield advantage, as they proved they were the better league.

If we did that then the AL would win every year pretty much...Does anybody know the all-time record AL vs NL?

PS: AJP just got a HR =) right after JD23's 22nd
Jim Thome and Hafner would've been fine. You don't take all-star 1B's because of their fielding. Again, I'm not saying there was anything wrong with Konerko's stats, just that Hafner's were better.

but Konerko doesn't deserve it! Who cares about their teams... it's about who the better player is and it's clearly Hafner!

Wait now, what the hell is wrong with Jenks stats now!?! He is leading the league in Saves with 26 and has a 2.56 ERA with 47 Ks in only 28.2 IP...Why is he not going to Pittsburgh now?

I meant each team's record, not league vs league.

The NL held the edge until this year:

Whatever, either way you freaking go you cant lose, both are better players then what the NL has to offer(besides Pujols)
