But it really wasn't going out on a limb. Everyone was saying Detroit was going to win this series and win it quite easily. Going out on a limb would have been saying the Cardinals would win in 5. But yeah, this is why it isn't a good idea to try and predict the baseball playoffs. It's a crap shoot.

My original post was before the WS and playoffs started. I said that none of the NL teams would beat the AL teams in the WS.

My bad then. Still though, this is why I didn't make any predictions saying the NL couldn't beat the AL. I didn't think any NL team, outside of NY, had much of a chance but we've seen it before. Ever since the '03 Marlins won the World Series I've pretty much figured out it's just a crap shoot and everyone has a pretty equal chance of getting hot at the right time.

Re: To all Mets Haters...and to Those Who THINK They Know...

Last noght proved that you all need to get a grip....how many times do we all have to bear witness to things not turning out the way that the so-called 'experts', tallking'heads' and so-called fans on call-in shows....who just pile on and pile on and pile on to something they hear from a talking head...

This is the same thing that happened in this past off season regarding Soriano playing in DC...you had a FEW members here in OS, who just 'knew' Soriano could not hit home runs in Washington. I and some others here on OS tried to tell some of these folks...some of whom I don't think EVER watched Soriano launch homers DEEEP into the Yanks bullpen at The Stadium...that hitting home runs at RFK would be the LEAST of his problems.....

Olsen, you could not have said it better yourself.

How much do those interleague records mean about now?

For what it's worth, I don't think interleague games mean anything either. That was never the basis for my opinion.
I'm only protesting the fact that many of the posters thought with absolute certainty the AL representative would crush the NL team, with most basing their argument over X, Y, or Z interleague games. After witnessing these playoff games, tell me how relevent a pre-All Star Game series is in October basball?

You yourself said in an other thread you preferred a regular-season sample size. Why all the sudden a change of opinion?

I still do prefer a regular-season sample size. No change of opinion there. I just don't look at interleague records to come to that conclusion. I base that opinion off of watching a lot of games in both leagues.
