Take the 0-3 Boston mini massacre away. and the Mets are dead even against the AL at 6-6. The IL only showed the Mets that if it's a 20th anniversary rematch against the Red Sox, i won't like their chances

That's simpliflying it a bit. Basically what's going to happen is that Ricciardi will ask Wells if he wants to sign a long term deal in the offseason for the "right" amount of money. I'm sure the Jays will spend a little more then they normally would if it means keeping Wells around. They did this not once, but twice with Halladay.

Of course if Wells is non-commital about it then we may very well see V-Dub dealt in the offseason or at the deadline in '07.

While you might be totally correct come the finish of the W.S. it won't be because of your logic. In this entire conversation...that's the only thing that is fact....and the win/loss records you posted of course.

I'm basing my logic on the fact that the best team in the NL would be about the 5th or 6th best in the AL. You only need basic baseball accumen to understand this. Hopefully you do.

Not if they had to play the AL teams on their schedule. By winning percentage against the AL they'd be in about 4th.

Yeah, beating up on NL east teams isn't too big of a challenge. With that said, I still think they take 3 out of 4 against my Phils this week.

as they say.. gotta beat the teams you're supposed to beat, & essentially play .500 against the top teams... i still think Philly will make a late charge though...

Well your big word is impressive(thank God for dictionary.com, huh!)....but it still means CRAP when the post season starts.....otherwise....somebody better tell the 2004 St. Louis Cardinals(11-1 in interleague play) that THEY are really the 2004 W.S. Champions and not the Boston Red Sox(7-5 in interleague play). Jistic says it's so.....make is so....

I think its ludicrous that people use a 15 game sample to declare the Mets chances impossible. I guess splitting a 6 game set with the 1st place Yankees (a series we could have won) is not enough but I guess that's the way people love approaching it.

I doubt its homerism to say so- look I hate homers as much as anything (and I pointed it out earlier), but the homerism that started this thread has been answered by just as much irrationality by the other side. I don't know if there is a such thing as an anti-homer, but they're in this thread (i.e. referring to Pedro as not a "true" ace). There are facts being shown (like the Cardinals 11-1 interleague record in 04) that are entirely relevant to the discussion.

Anybody who writes off an ENTIRE league because of a small interleague sample is fooling themselves.

People keep trying to down the Mets and the NL but how come noone says anything about the Tigers getting to beat up on KC about 18-19 times a year.
The royals arent even competive. At least the Braves and Phillies and Marlins are competitive and can actually win a series against the Mets.

The Yanks and Red Sox records are overblown because they get to trounce Tampa Bay every year. I bet they both must get 13 or 14 wins against Tampa every year.
