I didn't realize Thrasha was on the 25 man roster for the Red Sox. And him being a Red Sox fan doesn't change the fact that the Mets are like a 14 year old playing King of Mountain against a bunch of kindergarteners. Lets wait and see how Pedro does with that 86mph heater against some good opponents.

but seriously, as far as talk of the Tigers goes, how do you think the youngsters in the rotation will hold up? the Yanks? they havent sniffed the WS since 2001.. Angels? have some issues with their rotation right now.. so to completely say the AL would make mincemeat out of the Mets, let alone any of the other NL teams, in the WS is a bit of a stretch.. interleague play really is meaningless cause it's part of the long season...

i think some of these haters just hate new york in general. to them its wrong to be proud to be a met fan. and by the way, what was up with Russo yesterday on the fan, i tuned into YES after the Met game and saw him wearing a yankee hat. i expect that from Kay but damn.

It's not wrong to be proud, the Mets are a very good team this year, the best in the NL, and I think are right up there with a lot of the AL contenders too. But creating threads demanding respect in August when they haven't won anything yet makes no sense.

And yesterday Russo apparantly declared himself a member of the Yankees bandwagon.

No, I don't think any AL team will make mincemeat of the Mets and every AL contender has a serious flaw about their team as well. However, the Mets can't be considered the favorites over any of them in the World Series based on a number of factors that have been brought up. Is it unthinkable that the Mets could come out of October on top of the baseball world? No, of course not. They're the best of the NL and right now that's all the respect they deserve. Worry about the World Series when and if the Mets get there.

Been there, done that. And let me tell you, if you don't end up winning it all in the end, you're gonna be left with that same hollow feeling you have every year when you finished elsewhere in the NL East.

Exactly...All the mets fans are excited and they have a reason to be. But, there is no point in talking about you guys winning the division and all this. The Braves won the division 14 yrs in a row and won a championship only 1 time, so out of those 14 years they were post season losers in 13 of them. So if the mets win the division and dont win the championship they will finish in the same place as all of the other losers in the mlb

you all can blow it in the wind..Living in the biggest city in the world and having your crosstown rivals being no other then the Yankees, and being a Mets fan isn't easy, but latley I'm so sick of haters out there doubting the Mets or just crapping on them like there invisable..I hear on the radio here in NY when people (Mostly Yankees fans) calling up saying oh the Mets are in a crappy divison and they haven't played anoybody, please people, kiss off. Us Mets fans haven't felt this way in years, like 20 years, so give us the respect we deserve, Yeah I know it doesn't count until you win the big one, but only time will tell, and I'm going on the record right now saying "I want the Yankees in the world series if we get there" We need the Yankees, so we can finally but the big monster to sleep... I'm just letting some steam out and sticking up for my Team thats still seems to get trashed on a daily basis..

Oh we play in the worst divsion, yeah maybe this year, but thats not our fault, the Braves were on top for so many years, and nobody wanted to play in our divsion knowing the Braves would always be on top...

Very well said, but our team needs to make some noise in the playoffs or you know the Yankees fan will have a field day on the radio. It is funny though how all the Yankees fans are calling sport radio again, you didn't hear a peep from them two months ago. Most Yankees fans are a bunch a bandwagon fans anyway. They are just afraid of being the 2nd team in NY like they were in the 80's.

I am liking what I see from the Mets and I think this team has a very bright future. Lets sit back and enjoy the ride ... GO METS!

some of you guys need to take your heads out of your blackhole, when saying that the Mets couldn't beat one of the top american leauge teams in a 7 games series. Some of you guys keep saying they can't and not coming up with any good reasons why, and I will tell you they can...None of the american leauge teams at the top right now scare me, and I bet they don't scare the Mets either, because none of those top american leauge teams pitching are any better then the Mets pitching, except Detroit, there ptiching and been awosome this year, the best in the leauge. What do the those top AL teams have that the METS don't have, yeah thats right nothing. The Yankees pitching will never scare anyone, neither will Bostons pitching, The White Sox got good pitching, but there not picthing close to where the pitched last year...The Mets can go Blow for Blow with anyone of the AL teams on offense side and maybe better, so please, the real question should be "can one of those AL teams really beat the METS in a 7 games series", I say my money's on the METS.

You don't watch much of the AL, do you? There are many AL teams I'd bet on over the Mets in a 7 game series. But that's just me. For what it's worth, you didn't provide any legit reasons either...just opinions. No sense in getting yourself all worked up over this when the WS is a long way away.....let alone the playoffs. All I know is the Mets were 6-9 against the AL this year and while I think they're a good team, I don't think they're good enough. We'll see what happens.


I can't believe it but the Mets fans might be giving White Sox fans a run for their money in the lack of respect category. How sad. I said it earlier, but I'll say it again "Who CARES what other's think about your team!!".

Okay, well... First off the Mets pitching isn't leaps and bounds better than any of the top AL teams pitching. But their hitting can't compare to any of the following AL teams, Boston, New York and Chicago (that offense is insane). Secondly you guys lost a huge BP asset when Duaner went down.

What do the those top AL teams have that the METS don't have, yeah thats right nothing. The Yankees pitching will never scare anyone, neither will Bostons pitching, The White Sox got good pitching, but there not picthing close to where the pitched last year...

The RS/NYY pitching isn't much far below the Mets. Combined they are 6-3 vs. the Mets. Pedro's stuff works in the NL, it doesn't vs. the big boys in the AL. The White Sox aren't pitching as well as they did last but that's beside the point, they've got a damn strong starting rotation, and a very solid BP. With the pitching borderline a wash between these three teams, their isn't one team the Mets can out hit out of these three. Just simply not going to happen.
