good to know that when the braves win the divison they are high and mighty, but when the Mets take over its b/c the divison is weak LMAO..

I don't think there is any denying that the Braves won some pretty crappy divisions. In '95, '98, and '02, the NL East was downright embarassing. And hell, aside from the Mets in '99 and '00, the division was horrible those two seasons, as well.

well what should we as Met fans do then? just sit here and wait for the team to blow a 15 game lead to the hustlin' Miguel Cabrera and his Marlins and miss out on the post season? I agree its a team built to win it this year but we have $$$$$. we can reload each year. when Pedro and Glavine retire we got Bannister, Pelfrey, and maybe Maine and Humber waiting in the wings. And if those guys cant cut it, Omar will go get someone who can. Dont forget about Reyes, Wright and Beltran. Those guys aint goin nowhere either. if we dont win the WS i'll be disappointed but im not gonna call the season a let down.

6-9 vs. the AL

Face it, the Mets beat up on a weak division, in a weak league.

They are a pretty good team. Nothing great.

They'll probably make it to the WS. Not because of their overpowering game, but by default because of being the best of the AAAA. And they'll probably lose in 5 or 6 to whoever they face.

All I can say is remember where you came from. These boards and other sports/baseball forums are now full of Mets fans coming out and talking trash now that theyve finally lived up to expectations and arent sucking wind, looking up at the Braves and other teams in the standings. The Braves and Marlins have accomplished a hell of a lot more than this franchise over the last decade, but I guess you guys have been waiting a long time for something to cheer about. Its your World Series birth to lose. Just dont go overboard and act like jackasses now that you finally have a good team.

We get zero run on the sports talk stations... Colin Cowherd had a kind of backhanded compliment towards Mets fans on their treatment of Mike Piazza. He said that normally the Mets fans are the loony, unreasonable type, while the Yanks fans were nothing but class (he must have never sat in the bleachers of Yankee Stadium...). I think for the most part, the little talk that I have heard has been positive, with most people saying that it all hinges on Pedro and Glavine, and that the rest of the pitching is the huge question mark.

And after the regular season ends, only Red Sox fans will remember those 3 games.

Game 1 of one of the NL series will still be in Shea Stadium and the Red Sox will likely be watching at home.

Anyways, back to the topic.

I'm really not concerned about how much props the Mets get or don't get in the media. You gotta understand that the Mets have looked in cruise control for almost a month and a half so they are other more compelling stories outhere.

All I care about is that the team gets to the playoff healthy and playing solid baseball.

Let it stay that way... Like the guy on WFAN said, this is a team that could be very good for a long time... Kinda like 1984, in Davey Johnson's first year, when we finished 2nd to the Cubs, then 2nd to the Cards in 1985 (man that was a stressful September...) Hopefully this will be the start of a nice run of winning baseball in Queens.

Isn't that more of an insult to the Mets that they couldn't even win one game with their best pitchers on the mound against a non-playoff team in the AL?
