Top 25 Players in the MLB

I always make a list for the NBA, MLB, and NFL after their respective seasons come to a close. I base it on how they do this year, how they've done in recent years, and most of all I ask myself this question: "At this point in time, who would I rather have on my roster?" This is how I got my top 25.

Everyone feel free to make your own top 25... if we get enough we can combine ours by ranking the players (#1's recieve 25 points, #25's recieve 1 point, etc...) and come out with OS' ultimate top 25 MLB players list.

Is this list based on 2006 peformance or performances over the last 3-5 years? I'm gonna guess the past few years, cause no way is Bonds Top-10 this season...

I'm amazed, no A-rod, Ichiro or Tejada?

Like I said... it was mostly based on that question I asked myself: "At this current moment in time, who would I rather have on my franchise? Bonds is only beaten out by 9 other players. If I couldn't have 9 of those other players, I would pick Barry Bonds over anyone else in the league.

Also... it was a close run between Tejada and Mauer, but I didn't have a single Catcher on the list, and so in that case he would be a much more valuable choice over Tejada.

1.) David Eckstein - Recently I realized how teams are run off chemistry and grit. I need a 5 foot nothing Eckstein to lead this team throug his gritty play.
2.) Travis Hafner- Pronk is near god-like (Yes this is a Cleveland Homer pick, but he is all we have!)
            3.) Albert Pujols
            4.) Johan Santana
            5.) Chris Carpenter
6.) Manny Ramirez- Eckstein's gritty play would make up for Manny being Manny
            7.) David Ortiz
            8.) Alfonso Soriano
            9.) Roy Halladay
10.) Pedro Martinez (R.I.P Nelson De La Rosa)
            11.) Carlos Beltran
            12.) Mario Rivera
13.) Barry Bonds (a little low, but I plain just don't like him. Yeah that makes me a null vote though)
14.) Jim Thome (Woooo former Indian)
            15.) Vlad the impaler
            16.) Island of Dr. Morneau
            17.) Jermaine Dye
            18.) Bonderman
            19.) Joe Mauer
            20.) Lance Berkman
            21.) Big Hurt
            22.) Alex Rodriguez
            23.) Grady Sizemore
            24.) Brandon Webb
            25.) Chase Utley
26.) David Eckstein again, I just need his extra grit

I forgot David Wright, he has potential to be a great player for a long time...

Miguel Cabrera should be on all of the lists also.

How did you have Carpenter ahead of Santana, xcell? Just wondering what your thoughts are on that. IMO, no pitcher comes close to Santana.

There is no way anyone could ever, ever, ever justify having Pedro Martinez on a top 25 list and ARod not on the same list. No way, no how.

I don't get that reasoning whatsoever.

Miguel Cabrera should be in everyone's top 5 if not top 3.
