Re: Mariners Meet With Zito
Indeed. Sheffield proved to do the job.
But I don't blame you for once to think you thumped the Yankees with your smarts....obviously, you won't stop at any measure to prove that, even disregarding facts for your own "assumptions". Enjoy Vlad, he's great.Comment

Keep on eating up whatever the NY media or Cashman feed you.Comment

Re: Mariners Meet With Zito
Keep reaching. Show me one piece of credible evidence where the Yankees offered Vlad a [significant] contract or had intentions of pursuing Guerrero hardcore...until then, stop talking out of your behind, 'cause you're only making yourself look foolish.Comment

Re: Mariners Meet With Zito
I guess it depends on which source you believe in. Vlad's back was a cause for concern. after playing 155+ games for 5 straight years, he only played 112 games during his contract year b/c of his back. it was a legit cause for concern, but a risk that MANY teams were willing to take considering vlad's age and past production.Comment

Looks like a good move on their part. LOL. Who do you think they'd rather have had in hindsight Sheffield or Guerrero?Comment

There was even rumors how Vlad didn't want to play in NY, but that was denied by his agent in order to build up his price. Lucky for them, the Arturo came in calling.Comment

You be quiet. You know nothing, but what you like to believe. Offer some evidence, maybe then I won't take your opinions with a grain of salt. Talking out of your *** won't win over many hearts.Comment

Re: Mariners Meet With Zito
Cashman wanted Vlad. I'm sure most of the front office wanted Vlad.
But George wanted Sheffield because he was a "warrior."
I have no idea if the Yankees could have signed Vlad or not, but Steinbrenner overruled everyone and went after Sheffield. Cashman has never tried to hide that he wanted Vlad.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Mariners Meet With Zito
Yeah, i honestly don't remember what our offer was, but it definitely beat Anaheim's offer. If i remember correctly, even ESPN's player page had Vlad coming to the O's at one point, but in the end, Vlad supposed desire to have a large hispanic community put Anaheim's offer over the top.Comment

BK, we can never be sure of the Yanks interest b/c they never made an official offer. I'll admit though, I find it hard to believe that Georgie and Cashman didn't burn the midnight oil trying to figure something out for Vlad.Comment
