Indeed. Sheffield proved to do the job.

But I don't blame you for once to think you thumped the Yankees with your smarts....obviously, you won't stop at any measure to prove that, even disregarding facts for your own "assumptions". Enjoy Vlad, he's great.

LOL, yeah Sheffield really has done the job. I am sure the Yankees are much happier with him than Vlad.

Keep on eating up whatever the NY media or Cashman feed you.

Keep reaching. Show me one piece of credible evidence where the Yankees offered Vlad a [significant] contract or had intentions of pursuing Guerrero hardcore...until then, stop talking out of your behind, 'cause you're only making yourself look foolish.

I guess it depends on which source you believe in. Vlad's back was a cause for concern. after playing 155+ games for 5 straight years, he only played 112 games during his contract year b/c of his back. it was a legit cause for concern, but a risk that MANY teams were willing to take considering vlad's age and past production.

Yeah, because the contract offers all all of public record. Keep believing the Yanks didn't want him. How is the Kool-Aid Cashman keeps pouring you? Taste good?

Looks like a good move on their part. LOL. Who do you think they'd rather have had in hindsight Sheffield or Guerrero?

Very true. I guess Yankee fans can't fathom the fact that a player would choose to play somewhere else. Although I guess that's becoming more common these days.

The Angels just so happened to offer the most money to welcome the new regime into Anaheim, to overall increase their attendace and interest. Heck, it worked.

There was even rumors how Vlad didn't want to play in NY, but that was denied by his agent in order to build up his price. Lucky for them, the Arturo came in calling.

I believe it was your team that came on strong the fastest with Guerrero, was it not?

You be quiet. You know nothing, but what you like to believe. Offer some evidence, maybe then I won't take your opinions with a grain of salt. Talking out of your *** won't win over many hearts.

Coming from someone as obviously intelligent, and educated as yourself, that means a lot.

It's just like when Vlad chose Anaheim over the Yankees, and all of the Yankees fans swore up and down, the Yankees didn't really want him.

The thought that every player wants to play in NY, is ridiculous.

Cashman wanted Vlad. I'm sure most of the front office wanted Vlad.

But George wanted Sheffield because he was a "warrior."

I have no idea if the Yankees could have signed Vlad or not, but Steinbrenner overruled everyone and went after Sheffield. Cashman has never tried to hide that he wanted Vlad.

Interesting. I had heard a similiar story.

Yeah, i honestly don't remember what our offer was, but it definitely beat Anaheim's offer. If i remember correctly, even ESPN's player page had Vlad coming to the O's at one point, but in the end, Vlad supposed desire to have a large hispanic community put Anaheim's offer over the top.

BK, we can never be sure of the Yanks interest b/c they never made an official offer. I'll admit though, I find it hard to believe that Georgie and Cashman didn't burn the midnight oil trying to figure something out for Vlad.
