MLB Extra Innings now exclusively on DirecTV

    Wow

I guess from a business standpoint this makes sense for revenue purposes. But doesn't this kill a butt-load of would be subscribers?

And from DTV's perspective I don't understand it. Do they expect this to be as big as their Sunday Ticket package?

Hopefully I'll be able to switch over to DTV in the near future. I'm sick of watching the games on my computer.

    This sucks!

I love the Extra Innings package, and aside from my baseball break last year, I've subscribed to the package numerous times in the past.

I've been a Comcast subscriber through and through, and this move is just bad news for me.

I suspect a few cable customers will check out the online stream, and I might even myself, but it's shoddy to be put in that situation by force.

Where can information be found on streaming games online, and how much does it cost?

I watched the games online the past 2 seasons.

In 2005 it was pretty good. The picture quality varied at times but for the most part it was decent to good.

2006 was underwhelming to say the very least. They blacked-out the commercials for each game, so whenever it went to commercial break, a little screen advertising s*it for MLB.com would come on, and once the game came back it would switch back. Small thing but I was still peeved by it. It also seemed the audio wouldn't always sync up with the video at times when they'd switch from one to the other. You'd hear the ball hitting the bat a split second or so after you saw the guy swing.

Also, and I'm not sure how they did this, but sometimes the screen overlays for some of the games were non-existant. The score of the game wouldn't come up on the screen, when they'd be talking about a batter/pitcher his box with all of his stats wouldn't appear, it was like they were working with an entirely different video feed at times.

I'm just curious, for anyone who has had this package through DirectTV, how much does it cost? I recently got DTV and am interested in getting the package this summer.

This blows. I really enjoyed the Extra Innings package the last few years on Comcast.

Which satellite radio provider has a deal with MLB and has radio coverage of all their games?

              I believe it's XM.

And yeah, this does suck. Guess I'll have to look into mlb.tv now.

It's about $150.00 for the year. You can pay it, I think over four installments.
You will get 8-10 games a day, at least.

What I DIDN'T like about it though was blackouts. I watched almost every Padres home game in 2005 and at the start of 2006 I was watching them, but then all their games got blacked out. I live about 130 miles from the stadium. I didn't even get their road games.

I called and they told me that it had to do with the MLB and not them, but they couldn't tell me why it suddenly changed, so that part of it was bad.

But, you can really enjoy some great games, that's for sure.

                        How much is MLB.tv?

I checked their website, and all I can find pricing for is the off-season "All-Access" package for $14.99.

Also, if someone could provide the pricing for their online radio stream package, that would be appreciated as well.

Basically, I was intending to subscribe to Extra Innings, and now have to start seriously considering alternatives. Thus, any information would be greatly appreciated.

                        Thanks!

Last year, the live game broadcasts for the season was $80. I think radio was $40-50.

Thanks Jim...that's actually better than I thought it would be. Last year I did the MLB radio, and for $14.99 it's a great deal to.
