Yeah, its kind of looking that way. I called the dishnetwork and they said nothing is official, but he sounded discouraged.

So if you have Dishnetwork, what will they do when the games come on the sports tier channels, just black them out or what.

MLB.TV is rolling out a new package this year. I've subscribed to this for 3 years and it's been ok, but the video quality has seemingly gotten worse from year to year. Now, this year they're coming out with the Standard MLB.TV for $89.95 for the season and MLB.TV Premium for $119.95 for the whole season. They're advertising picture quality twice as good as previous on the Premium package and you can also use MLB Mosiac, which looks pretty cool. You also get Gameday Audio this year.

I wasn't sure if I was going to resubscribe but I'll probably end up shelling out $30 bucks to MLB because the Premium package looks pretty nice.

mlb.tv works pretty well if you have a decent computer. MLB mosaic is really cool, it lets you watch up to 6 games at once. Also, I was looking over the difference between the standard and premium mlb.tv package, and noticed the streams are different, the standard uses a 400kb stream, while the premium uses a 700kb stream. Also it states that the mosaic application is capable of a 1.5mb steam. I believe they have been using a 400kb stream for the past few years, so the bump up to 700 in the premium package should be a nice upgrade, and theoretically, the mosaic's 1.5mb stream should approach tv quality. Now lets see if they actually deliver.

Selig addressed this issue on the Mike and Mike radio show Thursday. He must have uttered that "baseball has never been more popular and continues to set attendance records" line half a dozen times, without really responding to the question. Though he said something about how it affects such a small number of people, and how he's heard for years that there's "too much product" out there and that in every market there are no less than 350 games available.

There's too much product available? You've got to be kidding me. I really believe Bud tries to do his best but he just can't pull it off. How can you have too much product available? If baseball is everywhere, more people will watch it. That equals money to the league. I don't know why he just won't announce the deal, others have been reporting it for months now.

I'm going to get MLB.TV but how the hell am I in a local blackout area for the Devil Rays and the Marlins. I live about eight hours from Tampa and eleven hours from Miami. I'm actually closer to Atlanta than either one of those places but I get all of the Braves games. It just doesn't make much sense to me.

The home market rules for MLB are ridiculous. I'm about 3 hours from Milwaukee and about 2.5 the Twin Cities, and I'm in the home market for the Brewers but not for the Twins. I don't know how they work those things.

Well, it's official. Direct TV has the rights, but if cable matches their deal, then cable can still carry games.

In other words, it's exclusively on Direct TV.

Yeah, there's no way the other companies match this offer. It's just a charade for MLB to place the blame on the cable companies.

IN Demand offers to match DirecTV's offer.

Looks like it will stay on some cable systems after all.

MLB could still reject the offer. INDemand offered to make the Baseball Channel available to as many people as it would be on DirecTV, but the offer was supposed to make it available on the basic tier.

If it is rejected look for the FCC and congress to get involved though.
