Re: MLB Extra Innings now exclusively on DirecTV
MLB.TV is rolling out a new package this year. I've subscribed to this for 3 years and it's been ok, but the video quality has seemingly gotten worse from year to year. Now, this year they're coming out with the Standard MLB.TV for $89.95 for the season and MLB.TV Premium for $119.95 for the whole season. They're advertising picture quality twice as good as previous on the Premium package and you can also use MLB Mosiac, which looks pretty cool. You also get Gameday Audio this year.
I wasn't sure if I was going to resubscribe but I'll probably end up shelling out $30 bucks to MLB because the Premium package looks pretty nice.Comment

Re: MLB Extra Innings now exclusively on DirecTV
mlb.tv works pretty well if you have a decent computer. MLB mosaic is really cool, it lets you watch up to 6 games at once. Also, I was looking over the difference between the standard and premium mlb.tv package, and noticed the streams are different, the standard uses a 400kb stream, while the premium uses a 700kb stream. Also it states that the mosaic application is capable of a 1.5mb steam. I believe they have been using a 400kb stream for the past few years, so the bump up to 700 in the premium package should be a nice upgrade, and theoretically, the mosaic's 1.5mb stream should approach tv quality. Now lets see if they actually deliver.Comment

Re: MLB Extra Innings now exclusively on DirecTV
Selig addressed this issue on the Mike and Mike radio show Thursday. He must have uttered that "baseball has never been more popular and continues to set attendance records" line half a dozen times, without really responding to the question. Though he said something about how it affects such a small number of people, and how he's heard for years that there's "too much product" out there and that in every market there are no less than 350 games available.Last edited by bravosfan; 02-18-2007, 08:38 AM.Comment

Re: MLB Extra Innings now exclusively on DirecTV
I'm going to get MLB.TV but how the hell am I in a local blackout area for the Devil Rays and the Marlins. I live about eight hours from Tampa and eleven hours from Miami. I'm actually closer to Atlanta than either one of those places but I get all of the Braves games. It just doesn't make much sense to me.Comment

Well, it's official. Direct TV has the rights, but if cable matches their deal, then cable can still carry games.
In other words, it's exclusively on Direct TV.

If it is rejected look for the FCC and congress to get involved though.Comment
