    Schilling at it again.....

    Being a complete jackass......

So he rips Gary Thorne for his comments on the bloody sock, then he turns around a few weeks later and rips Barry Bonds and says Bonds admitted to steroid use (which he never has). Same situation, reverse the roles. Now Schilling is the schmuck. From his blog....

Watching Woody Paige or the plastered made up face of Jay Marriotti spew absolutely nothing of merit on sports, day after day, makes it easy to understand how Gary Thorne could say something as stupid, ignorant, and uninformed as he did the other night.
It should be easy to understand Curt, because you do it yourself. Get off your high horse, stop preaching, and stop being one of the biggest hypocrites professional sports has ever seen.

On the WEEI’s "Dennis and Callahan" radio show, Schilling was asked if fans should "hold their noses" while watching Bonds’s pursuit of the all-time record. Bonds is 11 from tying the all-time record of 755.

“Oh yeah. I would think so. I mean, he admitted that he used steroids,” said Schilling, according to the Globe. “I mean, there’s no gray area. He admitted to cheating on his wife, cheating on his taxes, and cheating on the game, so I think the reaction around the league, the game, being what it is, in the case of what people think. Hank Aaron not being there. The commissioner [Bud Selig] trying to figure out where to be. It’s sad.

“And I don’t care that he’s black, or green, or purple, or yellow, or whatever. It’s unfortunate . . . there’s good people and bad people. It’s unfortunate that it’s happening the way it’s happening.”

Despite Schilling's remarks, Bonds has never admitted to knowingly using steroids. On Dec. 4, 2003, Bonds was one of several athletes forced to testify as part of the BALCO case, which centered around the San Francisco-area lab, its founder Victor Conte, and Greg Anderson — Bonds’ personal trainer and longtime friend.

I refuse to stick up for Bonds, and if you think he has never taken steriods you are crazy. I am not a big Schilling fan but I like a guy who speaks his mind.

Yes, but he better take back what he said if anybody on his team (Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell... anybody) in 2004 when they won the World Series, or perhaps if Gonzalez did in 2001. If this was at all the case, would he be willing to trade his rings back to take Bonds' records away? I don't think so.

That he made a stupid, ignorant and uninformed comment?

He rips Thorne for doing so, then he turns around and makes one but he gets off scott-free?

Schilling is so blinded by the steroid scenario that he has no idea what's actually going. He can't keep a simple fact straight (and a major one at that) that Bonds never admitted to steroid use.

Thorne attacked Schilling out of speculation and word of mouth (no facts) and Schilling went off the deep end. Now Schilling attacked Bonds for things out of speculation and word of mouth but there's nothing of consequence.

He's doing exactly what Thorne did.

Welcome to 2004. Bonds did admit using steroids.

"Bonds told a U.S. grand jury that he used undetectable steroids known as "the cream" and "the clear," which he received from personal trainer Greg Anderson during the 2003 season. According to Bonds, the trainer told him the substances were the nutritional supplement flaxseed oil and a pain-relieving balm for the player's arthritis."

Welcome to my post four inches above on your computer screen. You reconfirmed it with your own post, too.

"Despite Schilling's remarks, Bonds has never admitted to knowingly using steroids."

I hate Bonds as much of the rest of the world, but I'm simply discussing the semantics of the situation. Thorne made an ignorant comment, as did Schilling.

Schilling didn't say he admitted to knowingly using steroids. He said he admitted to using steroids (didn't specify knowingly or unknowingly).

I don't get why you would blast Schilling for this. Schilling knows Bonds used steroids, we all know Bonds used steroids and Barry knows he used steroids. So we're not allowed to criticize him for it just because it was "unknowingly"?

That's how I feel. It's probably not gaining him any popularity in the clubhouse but I'm all for players calling these guys out.

I like Schilling as well. Bonds knowingly used steroids; I'd be willing to bet just about anything I own on that. There's way, way too much smoke for there not to be fire in this case.
