AL East:
New York Yankees
Boston Red Sox
Baltimore Orioles
Toronto Blue Jays
Tampa Bay D-Rays
Of course it should be a close race between NY and BOS. I expect NY to come out on top with the new players like Contreras and Matsui. Boston has made little movements, but lost Floyd in the process. Baltimore should be there at third, but not on their heels with Toronto hanging around. Tampa Bay should be able to improve on their 55-106 campaign last year, but not by much.
AL Central:
Minnesota Twins
Cleveland Indians
Chicago White Sox
Kansas City Royals
Detroit Tigers
I expect the Twins to be a competitive team again, along with Cleveland and Chicago trying to win the division. This race should be very close and should continue throughout the season. Kansas and Detroit shouldn't be too far behind.
AL West:
Oakland A's
Anaheim Angels
Seattle Mariners
Texas Rangers
Okay, don't argue with me, this should be one of the best division races, i expect all the teams to be really good and should compete for the long run. Basically all these teams should have a shot for a playoff run. I know Anaheim will defend their position, but Oakland has a pitching staff not to be messed with. Seattle will be competitive a bit while Texas shouldn't be too far behind like last season.
NL East
New York Mets
Atlanta Braves
Philadelphia Phillie's
Expos (they'll be playing home games elsewhere so i won't officially call them Montreal)
Florida Marlins
I expect to see the Braves slip a little with the f/a losses during the off-season. Phiillie's will contend, but they will fall of the race later in the season, i expect the Expos to make a run for at least second and the Mets, with the new f/a's such as floyd, should be very competitive. Florida will need help to contend for at least third place if not second.
NL Central
Houston Astros
St. Louis Cardinals
Cincinnati Reds
Chicago Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers
They three way last year was classic, and i expect to see it again this year with the Cards, Reds, and Astros. I see that the Astros will end up on top of the division with the contributions that Kent will make. The Reds and Cards will compete for the spot too, but the Cards are bolstering a staff and were hit hard last year. Chicago shouldn't be too far behind. Pittsburgh and Milwaukee will (sadly, and i hate to say this) compete for fifth.
NL West
San Francisco Giants
Arizona D-Backs
San Diego Padres
Colorado Rockies
Los Angeles Dodgers
San Francisco has made a lot of transactions that should make the team better than it was last year (as if they weren't good enough already). Arizona should be able to contend, but they'll slide a little because they're just getting to old. San Diego should attain third only if they could stay healthy. Colorado also have done some stuff and they should be there with Los Angeles, which has lost so much in the off-season at fourth.
I'd like to see what you guys predict. Remember, no offense to any of the teams, but i'm basing these on what happened during the off-season and what responses i expect from these teams.
