They won 97 games with Chuck Finley and Benes. Without those two they have Morris, Simonttachi, Tomko, and Hamilton. Yea all four of those pitchers could be in the 4 era.

The Astros are ok. If Carlos Hernandez hadn't gone down I would have picked them to win the central.

However, the Cubs have 3 solid starters. They have arguably the deepest bullpen in the central. Their lineup isn't the best but better than last year. Plus they have the best manager in the game in my opinion. Besides, Sosa is actually going to be on time for spring training! He hasn't done that since '98. It seems like this could be the Cubs' year... to maybe make the playoffs

              <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

As a Padres fan, let me just tell you, that Tomko will start off strong, and then his arm will die, and his ERA will skyrocket, but if he is anything like Reggie Sanders or Brett Boone, you guys may be lucky!

              <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I think Tomko will struggle against the Reds again (that happened last year). I think he was trying to get revenge for them trading him away. I hope Tomko will turn it around, because he is a good pitcher.

I have a feeling about the Fuzzy Cubbies this year. The Astros can't seem to ever get it done and have a weak 3-5 in the rotation. The Cards only got worse over the summer and will fold as the ASB approaches.

I still think the Braves will finish #1 in the NL East. Leo Mazzone has done amazing things with the bullpen the past dozen years. And for some reason, I think Mike Hampton is going to be really good... 15-18 wins, 3.5 ERA. Just getting him out of Coors should lower his ERA. I know all of you are saying "Hampton had like a 7+ ERA on the road last year (away from Coors)"... yeah... I know. But still. I think Hampton will have a good year to offset the loss of Glavine.
