755 represents an entire career of excellence, .400 and 56 are just single season things. You can't even compare them even though Barry's OPS in 2001, 2002, and 2004 all exceed Ted Williams' OPS the year he hit .406. OPS is a much more meaningful stat.
The value of home runs is greatly diminished. The record, from here on out won't stay with one person for more than 7 years, IMO. Single season records are more precious to me... especially .400 and 56. How long have those records stood? Joe D still holds the hitting streak. That is my #1 record in all of sports. It's probably never going to be replicated.

Pitcher: Ben Sheets - First of all he has injury issues. He had one phenomenal year in 2004, since then, and before then, he hasn't been anything close to an ace.
Aces stop losing streaks. Sheets has done that twice this year. How can Sheets be overrated when he's not the highest paid pitcher in the starting rotation?

BK, Sexon and Deer have a few things in common besides hitting. They both played for the Brewers at one point.

I have to go with Juan Pierre at this time for being overrated or Soriano.

          Adam Dunn!
He is the king of the solo HR when his team is losing by 5.
He strikes out way too much and he is the worst outfielder in the game.
He does not hit at all with runs on base and does not hustle at all.
He is always over 40 hrs ever year but does not ever drive in 100.

Just because there are more home runs today does not diminish their value at all. Name one single act in baseball that is more influential than a home run.

To say that Barry's OPS doesn't matter means that you're saying that everyone who has ever had a high OPS doesn't matter because they were walked. Babe Ruth was walked the same way!

While 56 is a very impressive streak, I'll take 73 home runs in one year over a 56 game hitting streak any day. You could go 1/4 for 56 games in a row and that is supposed to be amazing? 73 home runs has a lot more influence on getting your team wins than just getting at least 1 hit for 56 games.

                    As for .400, OBP>AVG

How does he not earn his walks though? He earns them more than any player in the league(not this year but in the past). Any other player gets walked because the pitcher just missed his pitches usually. Barry got walked because pitchers knew he was so dangerous that it is safer to just let him take a base. That is earning a walk, not just letting the pitcher miss his pitches

Just imagine how many homers he'd have now if they didn't walk him so often. Same goes for Ruth and I'd imagine Aaron too even though he didn't have those monster single seasons like Barry and Ruth have had.

Daisuke Matsuzaka - Way too early, but so far he looks the part of over rated.
Todd Helton - Todd Helton is a good player. But at home his production is leaps and bounds above on the road. His numbers benefit greatly from playing in the stratosphere.
Eric Chavez - Again good, but over rated.

Bobby Abreu is having a terrible year but I don't think he was the slightest bit overrated during last year with the Yankees or his time in Philly, at least offensively.

If anybody is earning walks in Major League Baseball its Barry Bonds. Love him or hate him he's by far the most feared hitter in the league.
