I still stand by it. It was never in the sig though. I said others can put it there and call me out at the end of the season.

I still don't think we take the division, I don't see us picking 5 games up on the Red Sox.

They picked up 5 games on the Sox in a single weekend (plus Mondy) last year so why not? But I don't think they can seriously think about the division until they are in front of the wild card chase. First things first.

They're probably not going to keep scoring at this pace in the next few weeks with some of the pitching that they're going to see, starting tonight with Halladay. One thing I've noticed with the Yanks this year is that when things start going south offensively, they all start to press and hit the skids at the same time. They can't afford another prolonged stretch of bad baseball like the many they had in the 1st half.

We can only play who is on the schedule. Gotta win the must wins. I believe the BoSox had a pretty easy beginning so things even out.

I still don't think we take the division, I don't see us picking 5 games up on the Red Sox.

Anything is possible though.

5 games when you have 6 games head to head is definitely reasonable. We've seen teams go from further behind to win the division, just look at last year's Twins.

If I recall correctly, the Sox were ahead of the Yankees in the standings heading into that weekend last year. They had injuries but yes, they were good. Not as good as this year's team but they were good. Regardless, the chances of catching and surpassing the Sox aren't great. At least it appears for now that the 2 Sox-Yankees series in the next couple of months will be interesting. I would not have thought that 2 months ago.

I think we'll know a lot more in 2 weeks. The schedule gets much easier for the Red Sox and much tougher for the Yankees. If the Yankees can pick up more ground, you have to like their chances to make a run.

Technically that doesn't mean the homeruns aren't "meaningless" as they could come when the Yankees are up by 6 or 7 runs, which they have been quite a few times recently.
