Dirty tricks? Excuse me, but if you're trying to make it as if Chris Young had the intention of throwing at Lee then so be it, but don't let facts blind your judgement.

Why would a pitcher whos throwing a no-hitter in the fourth inning in a 0-0 game with a 1-2 count to player throw a beanball? Keep trying to connect it to what Peavy said, because apparently Lee tried doing that and now looks to have hurt his own team more.

Fact: Young has better than average control
Fact: Peavy was quoted about putting the pill in someones ribs the day before
Fact: Derrek Lee was 4/4 the day before

Plus Young didnt exactly avoid confrontation after the beaning. And of course the Padres are denying it was intentional. Too bad Peavy's own words are their own indictment.

Yeah beaning Lee on purpose on a 1-2 count in a 0-0 ball game in the 4th inning makes perfect sense. Good thinking. Not to mention if you see the way the ball tailed on him it's pretty obvious it got away from him.

As far as Young being confrontational, the first thing he said to Lee was that he wasn't throwing at him.

Dirty tricks, please. Sour grapes to getting your *** kicked today is more like it.

No, its not sour grapes over today. I was pi$$ed about yesterdays game yesterday and in particular that strike three on Branyan the umpire missed. I wasnt surprised about what happened today. It would have been nice to win but you expect that SD will probably win one game decisively. As far as youre questioning of my reasoning is concerned, its not really going to go anywhere. The Padres fans who think it was unintentional are not going to budge and the Cubs fans who think it was headhunting arent going to budge. And basically for every reason you can point to for why he didnt do it, I can point to an argument to the contrary...I mean, we (you and I) can go back and forth on this all day and never accomplish anything. So heres the deal. Im going to call it headhunting. I know you disagree and thats fine. You can continue to try to engage me about how I characterize it if you want but againl, its pointless for reasons Ive already pointed out.

When you get a valid reason to point to headhunting let me know. If it makes you feel better about your crappy team, then feel free to call it what you want, but you'd still be wrong.

Ive given you valid reasons. And where you second comment is concerned, Im going to infer from that that SD is having a good season. I have to make that inference because I dont honestly know, not do I care about the NL West. Are the Dodgers in first place? The Giants maybe? The only thing I can tell you is that Colorado has been surging lately but beyond that I really dont care. Whats kind of amusing though is that you seem to think this gives you some cache where this discussion is concerned when in reality its not even relevant.

Actually it's quite relevant. Your the Cubs should have resorted to the Padres dirty tricks, statement says it all.

Again how does it make sense that Young is going to throw at someone on a 1-2 count in a scoreless game in the 4th inning? Where is the logic there? When have you EVER seen someone intentionally throw at someone with 2 strikes? Ever? Not to mention Young flat out told Lee afterward he wasn't throwing at him. And who throws at someone with a two seam fastball? You're telling me, he threw a tailing fastball to hit him on purpose? When have you ever seen that happen? There's zero logic to your assertions, and amounts to nothing more than frustration due to the Cubs being a bad team in a bad division.

As far as the Padres, go. They have the best record in the NL. So yes they are in first place.

You're obviously quite a knowledgeable baseball fan.

Even the best control pitchers throw pitches that gets away from them. I highly doubt control-master Greg Maddux has never thrown a pitch that got away from him.

Chris Young has great control, that's a fact, but don't let that blind you from the fact that everyone eventually loses control on a pitch and it gets away from them.

Its amazing. The prevous week, D Lee had one hit all week and no one came close to hitting him and thats with pitchers who have significantly inferior control to Young. Then Lee goes 4/4 and suddenly a pitch "just gets away". LOL

Yet you fail to answer the question. When have you ever seen a pitcher intentionally throw at a batter with 2 strikes. Why would a pitcher work the batter to a 2 strike count, only to throw at him? Of all the times to throw at Lee why would you do it in a 0-0 game in the 4th? When have you ever seen anyone intentionally throw at someone with a 2 seam fastball. You honestly believe he's going to throw at him with a tailing fastball, instead of just throwing at him.

Because youre trying not to be too obvious. You keep talking about the no hitter but it was only the 4th inning.

Again, why in the 4 inning. Why not in the first? He walked him anyway. Might as well as just hit him. I never made a mention of the no hitter.

And again, you fail to answer about hitting him with 2 strikes or a tailing 2 seamer.
