Re: A-RODS future?
Personally, I feel he will opt out and then resign with the Yanks. They have the money and at this point, Cashman is desperate with the team doing poorly. Getting rid of ARod = inevitable Cashman termination. He will re-sign.Comment

Re: A-RODS future?
You're WAY too negative about all things Orioles...while they haven't given many reasons to make anyone feel optimistic, it seems like you immediately rule out everything. While the chance of landing A-Rod is about 0.00001%, I wouldn't dismiss it completely. Disregarding the team's performance for a second, Baltimore is a great baseball city, and not exactly a pressure atmosphere like that of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago. It'd be a place where he wouldn't have to worry about being scrutinized by the media daily, which seems to be a problem with him. And when you really think about it, the team isn't really that far off. It may seem like it, but the pitching is there (starters, anyway), and the lineup is (I think), a 30-40 home run hitter and a .800 OPS left fielder away from doing some things. Not to mention the likes of Rowell, Reimold, Wieters (hopefully) due in 2-3 years. That goes without mentioning the pitching prospects (Erbe, Liz, Beato, Bascom, Arrieta).
They'll definitely make a play, and while the chances are very slim, it's not out of the question and I wouldn't completely dismiss it yet.Comment

Probably not. I'd be even more pissed if I was Rivera. The man was the most valuable player in baseball for damn near a decade and they didn't bend the rules for him. A-Rod has three good months and they bend them."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: A-RODS future?
Yankees have decided to go against team policy and are willing to re-negotiate ARod's contract during the season if he agrees to not opt-out of his contract at the end of the season and if he agrees to add whatever they negotiate upon to the existing contract, which means his current contract, which ends in 2010, would be lengthened.
Unfortunately, ARod's agent, Scott Boras, has said that ARod's policy is not to negotiate during the season and he "expects" this will not change unless the Yankees offer upwards of $30 million/ year.

Re: A-RODS future?
Boras "assured" A-Rod he'll be making $30m/yr during his next contract.
In case you're wondering, that'd break down to $185,185.00 per game if he played all 162 in a season. Not bad for three hours of work."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

An opt out will require an entirely new contract."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
