I think Brenly is a good manager. He just doesn't have the experience, so he hasn't learned all the nuances yet. He is great with his players, though, and like someone else said, that is probably a manager's number 1 quality these days. Look at Dusty Baker. The guy has been managing since 1993 and he still makes some really questionable moves at times. He is notoriously bad at managing his bullpen. However, there has never been a player that didn't love playing for him. His guys put it on the line for him because he has such good relationships with his guys.

Right how many titles has he won? Just think Tom Kelly has won more WS than Cox. Dont get me wrong I think Cox is good but I wouldnt brag on him too hard. As far as the worst goes I have to say it might be ...whoevers managing its hard to know now that Valentine is gone. He was OK for a while even though he made questionaable substitutions.

I thought that comment Cox made about as a manager in the playoffs you just roll the dice and hope they come up right was kind of ignorant. If that's his approach, it may explain why he only has one ws victory with the talented clubs he's had.

i think people are a little harsh on bobby I feel that he is a great mananger with bad luck in the big games how many managers that you would consider great have a stretch of 11 straight post season apearances and not once have the braves been a wild card entry. I believe that bobby would have had more world series titles if his key players would have stepped up in the clutch. As talented as his team was they did have holes, His starting pitching was great but his bull pen wasn't so it came back to haunt them when it was time to play the best in the league. give credit where credit is due. Dusty baker is considered one the best in the business but don't have the resume that Cox have. I also like to note that cox help bring some of the talent to the braves because he was once their Gm before moving down to take the managerial job.

Bobby Cox is a good manager, but he's not great. IMO, he's predictable. I've heard some say he's the most unpredictable in the game...but I disagree.

P.S. Two more people I'm curious about. Thoughts on Lloyd McClendon? I know he isn't winning, but that doesn't mean much in Pittsburgh. And how about Phil Garner? Everyone says he's a good manager...I'd like to see him have a team with some talent. I was hoping the M's would look at him, but I think Bob Melvin will do well.

Take it easy on the Cubs, everyone knows they have a goat curse that plagues them. I would pick cursed ex-Cub Davey Lopes as a bad manager.
