For the heck of it, i started simming through a franchise mode. After 10 years, a player historical stats start dropping off. In other words, if a player started his career in '95, then after you get to 2005, his '95 stats drop off. It really sucks because it affects his career totals. Sammy never got to 600 homeruns, because every year I simmed, one of his earlier season dropped off. Every year in the season news (whatever it's called), it mentioned career Homerun milestones, and every year Sammy hit his 500. Then the next year a season would drop off, he would be back down to 400something, and he would do it again...

I hope for High Heat fans' sake that these may just be a bad batch of discs.

I am thinking this is due to PS2 memory card limiations, it probably will work correctly in XB and PC versions.

Re: High Heat Sightings and First Impressions here...

Let me start off by saying that I love this game.

I have not experienced the 2 out fly ball bug, but I don't doubt that it exists because I have already seen a number of bugs 5 games into this year's version of the game. The first bug that I saw was when my baserunner was picked off taking a lead at 2nd base even though the shortstop never made the tag. The ump called me out, without a tag, like it was a force out. The second bug I was batting with Manny Ramirez with a man on first. Two pitches in a row the catcher threw to first after the pitch. On both occassions the pitch wasn't counted as a ball or a strike, so after two pitches the count was still 0-0.

With that said, this game is so much fun to play, I can look past a few minor bugs. Maybe I'll feel differently after I lose a game on a 3rd out fly ball and the run scores.

We all know that the bug exists now and that stinks, but can we start seeing more post like T_diddy's. I want to hear the posatives about this game because it sounds like this bug only comes into play every once and a while and I might be able to deal with that.

I own the game, but have not opened it as of yet.
Would I like the game If the bug did not exist ?

                Thank you

Thanks for all the impressions and info guys, can't wait to get my hands on this game. I'm waiting for the Xbox version though. Hopefully the Xbox version won't get pushed back any further. Just a heads up though, I called up my local EB and they said they were getting High Heat 2004(Xbox) on March 6th. Even though their website still shows a ship date of March 2nd. Your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully I'll be playing it the first week of March either way.

                        mad,
assuming you like gameplay, and don't want random guys to hit 90 hrs a season, you'd LOVE the game if not for the bug....
which doesn't seem to be happening often, ya, it's happening to everyone a time or 2, but it's not like it happens almost every game.

Re: High Heat Sightings and First Impressions here...

I've only played a few games, but I have yet to see the bug, and I played one game where every inning I made sure the CPU had a runner on third with 2 outs, and was able to make the third out a decent fly ball. The bug never happened, so while I'm sure it's there based on all the various posts, it seems from my experience like it's pretty rare.

But the bottom line is that I'm loving this game. I'm a HH fan and really enjoyed 2K3. To me this is the same as 2K3 but with moderately improved graphics and much improved animations. Overall much prettier than 2K3, and the animations, particularly the fielding animations and the batting animations, really seem to add to the feel of the game. The little things like shakes of the head, reactions to situations, much more fluid movements (still some stuttering, but overall much, much better), coupled with the same batter/pitcher interface that I love, just feels like baseball.

And I'm walking a lot of people, particularly with Simontacchi and middle of the road pitchers like that. It's so frustrating and I love it, not being able to throw the ball exactly where I want it.

So overall, I haven't seen any of the bugs, and the game is something that you'll really like if you liked HH2003, and it looks and feels even more realistic, but if you didn't like HH2003, the graphics upgrades aren't going to win you over to the series if the gameplay wasn't your thing below.

But I'll tell you, I haven't had a better moment in a long time playing a sports video game than last night, when I blew a 5 run early lead to go down 6-5 in the 8th, and then JD Drew hit a 2 run, 2 out homerun in the 9th off of Trevor Hoffman to win the game. It just doesn't get any better than that.
