no, but he certainly wasn't considering one of the best either. Roids helped him earn that honor. Hall of Famer for sure, but not even close when it came to all time greats. I'm not saying that's the reason people hate Bonds, but I can certainly see why they would.

Bonds was on pace to be a Willie Mays, look at the numbers before the roids. They are pretty much the same.

600 is a far cry from whatever number he's at now. And for the guy that said only Griffey was on the all century team... that's my point! Bonds was 35 when that team was announced! His career by all normal accounts was coming to an end, not skyrocketing to unknown heights. If he wasn't one of the best for 13 or 14 years prior how in the world would he ever be that way on what should have been the downside of his career.

Griffey wasn't just a stud hitter though, he was the guy that MLB was sort of pegging as the face of the game. Remember all the Griffey ads? The Griffey video games? He basically saved baseball in Seattle too. All that and he had a squeaky clean image and a great personality. He's going to the Hall but Griffey was supposed to be basically what Bonds ended up becoming. Bonds had accomplished more than Griffey at that time though in terms of raw performance IMO but that All Century selection wasn't just about raw performance.

Edit - Also, what does some contrived Mastercard sponsored selection of stars have to do with who exactly was the best in the game. That anyone was on there doesn't necessarily mean anything of itself, just that the guy selecting them thought they should be there. Next you'll be quoting gold gloves or something.

Clemens, McGwire, and Ripken were all active at the time of the naming of the All Century Team. Fans voted on the final team. Active players who missed the final vote were Maddux, Gwynn, Rickey Henderson, and Bonds.

Ankiel is now 1 for 24 with a single since the report about him receiving HGH came out.
He has also looked really shaky in the field this whole series against the Reds. I think it is in his head that everyone thinks that he is a cheater and it is affecting his play.

Probably. Hopefully he rebounds. Although, judging from his past problems, he could easily self destruct mentally and never be the same again.
