He did provide us with a much needed spark and performed well when he played for us, not sure if we would even have a shot at the playoffs if not for him.

I have to be honest... it was 2002 or something, and I picked him up on my fantasy baseball team because of his name. Well, this guy was an extra-base hit machine, not to mention he stole quite a few bases for me! As a matter of fact, he was my sleeper of any year ever! He was very unheard of except for, of course, his name (in my eyes at least, since I wasn't big on the AL Central). Never did I know of his arrogance and hotheadedness until he was traded from Cleveland (or released, or whatever). Not only that, but I didn't think of him as a 20+ HR hitter ever. So, when did he convert to one? Perhaps the same time he became a prick.

Funny story about Milton:

Sometime this year and during one of the many times Milton was on the disabled list...

My wife and I were having breakfast at IHOP in Dublin, CA (city about 15mins outside of Oakland). Milton, his wife and kid walked in. They happen to sit them right next to our table. My wife and I were talking away and he looks over to our table and jokingly asked me why I was wearing a Yankee hat in CA. I told him that I had gotten as a gift from my Yankee fan dad. He says well, you better be prepared to jump on the bandwagon when post season rolls around. I responded, "Oh trust me, if the A's make the playoffs I'll be watching them on TV like you." He said, whoah low blow and laughed at my response. I could tell that his wife didn't think it was funny.

As we were leaving my wife asked me if I knew him and I told her who he was. She couldn't stop laughing!

No he won't. Recovery time from a torn ACL is anywhere from 9 to 18 months depending on the individual, this late in the season Bradley is probably out until next june or july at the earliest.

It could be as little as 6 months.

I tore my acl, and was cleared to do any sport I wanted after 6 months.

It's different for everyone, could be longer, though I doubt anywhere near 18 months. Baseball doesn't require sharp cuts and quickly changing direction nearly as much as if he was a basketball or football player.

Milton's been productive with the Padres. With that being said he's been a ejected a few times, but umpires have been a pain in the *** for the Padres since Sandy Alderson was hired (Questec). If some of you remember, David Wells was ejected by an ump who I believe crossed the line with his comments, but Wells was the one suspended.

The Padres may not sign Bradley or Cameron (who is also out for the year) so they need to find a CF'er if they aren't going to keep Bradley, as much as he is a jackass, he sparked this lineup whenever he was healthy to be in it. The reason he may not be re-signed is his durability issues more so than his problems, which he didn't have here in San Diego until this.

You guys keep harping on Milton having a short fuse. But you keep ignoring that Meachem went after the ump first. It is certain, clear, obvious the umpire said something waaayyyy off base. He didn't just get MB mad w/what he said. The umpire should be suspended.

Probably was the umps fault but when you got a history like Bradley has thats the way it goes for ya.

As I said earlier, he makes himself a target.

But it is the umpire's job & function to be a neutral party. To not take any preconceived opinions onto the ballfield. The greater responsibility falls on his shoulders. Instead of focusing on MB, everyone should be zeroing in on the umpire's actions.

Yep, if you look at the clip before the blowup Milton turns away and is in the runner's stance and you can clearly see the umpire chirping away at him. For all the talk of how Milton is a hothead he actually took the time to call timeout and talk to the umpire and then things went to hell.

The ump instigated the whole thing.

apparently the conversation started over the umpire believing either he or one of the other umps was the target of a bat Milton threw earlier in the game.

I can't believe some of the posts I'm reading here.

Bradley has a temper AND a reputation... but how can anyone watch what happened and what led up to the situation and blame the guy? It was obvious he kept holding back and the Ump was provoking him.

That does not excuse Milton's actions in the past... but we're not referring to the past. We're referring to this one incident.

If it were Barry Bonds, as much as I don't like the guy I'd still feel the same way. The Umps are there call the game, not "make an impact" on it.
