Why would you support someone like that, then?

Wouldn't you want for him to first not screw up enough so you can win a World Series, THEN worry about Hall of Fame?

I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of instant replay, even if it's just to review plays like that and home runs like earlier in the game.

Problem is, where do you draw the line of what's reviewable and what isn't.

If I may, this is the baseball version of the Music City Miracle. That play was very questionable but there's no way in hell the refs would've overturned it for fear of rioting.

The same thing would've happened if there was instant replay in MLB and besides there's no clear shot that would overturn the safe call.

Nope just those who do not know what they are talking about when they say Hoffman can't win the big one or chokes all the time.

I don't know anyone that bashes Rivera. Hard to do when you have a 0.80 career post season ERA and four rings.

I'd really love to see what this thread would be like if the Rockies got screwed like the Padres just did. Considering 98% of the people posting here were rooting for the Rockies, I'm not surprised by all the "Oh well, congrats Rockies!" sentiments. But I'd really love to see the other side....

You kinda saw it when Atkins was jobbed earlier then again, it wasn't a game winning shot either.

He did blow the lead, and lose the World Series didn't he?

                          Funny how that's being overlooked.

Rivera has blown some big games in the past as well.

But I've never seen him get totally destroyed in a big game like Hoffman did tonight. 3 drives into the gap, intentional walk, and even the sac fly was hammered. Seemed like an inning where he would have needed complete luck to get out of.

Trust me there are people who will look for ANY flaw in a player to bash them. I find it ridiculous. Hoffman has decent numbers in the postseason, but everyone calls him a choke.

It's funny, everyone here in San Diego is all knee-jerky over Hoffman because of the two blown saves and not clearly seeing the big picture.

There were many winnable games before this one that the bigger problem on this team glared through. I'd rather find a solution to our hitting woes before I worry about whether Hoffman is done or not, because I'm not ready to send in Heath Bell (or any succcessful setup man) after one great season and after what happened in 2003.
