Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
He is one of the best defensive 3rd baseman in MLB....and if all he does is hit .250 with 25 hrs and 75 rbi's he will produce plenty at the plate for a #7 or #8 guy in that lineup. Since that is what he has traditionally done, I'm not sure why it would change now that he is in a more hitter friendly park. The runs he would save over a Helms/Dobbs platoon (and the ability to not burn a defensive replacement at both 3B and LF all season) make this an even more valuable move for the Phillies.
At $4 million and change annually for 2 years, I'd say that is a good buy in today's market.Last edited by jdros13; 01-29-2008, 01:32 AM.Comment

Please tell me what I've left out, aside from him being the face of baseball that will not lose a game this season.Comment

Anyone who thinks that Pedro Feliz hitting 7th or 8th in this lineup in Philly is not a good addition needs to have there head checked. I think he was hitting 4th or 5th in the Giants lineup, and they counted on him for power and RBI's. In the Phillies' stacked lineup he will hit 7th or 8th and have a lot of protection and will see his fair share of strikes.
I think he will have his career years w/ Philly, and will probably see career highs in HR's, RBI's, and hits.

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
Nope, I'm sure you people are right. Everyone else in this thread is so off base. He's a young stud with an incredible bat. I believe his best years are yet to come. Pitchers fear him. He can play Ozzie Smith caliber D without even using a glove. Hell I'd say he's the best third baseman the NL East has ever seen. Forget performance, he is second only to Eckstein in grit (513.2), heart (41a.3), determination (21.041292), fearlessness (17), lockerroom video games (god at halo), and I hear he has a good taste in music.

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
WTF are you talking about man? He's on the PHILLIES now. That's right, the PHILLY baseball team. No one plays there without being the absolute best at his position.
He has a .288 career OBP! He's gotta be right at the bottom of the league in OBP. His .433 SLG isn't good enough to make up for his incredibly low OBP. Basically, he's one of the worst offensive players in the league. He gives you solid defense but it's not good enough to make up for his offense.Comment

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
The world population is around 6,641,114,625. I would take Feliz at the plate over 6,641,113,712 of them. That puts him in the 99.99999 percentile. Just think about that.Comment

And for the record, he rates at .97 on the Ecksteinscale. That's impressive any way you slice it.Comment

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
Wow, five straight posts of worthless drivel. Even with someone as lengthy a Phillies trolling history as you do, that's pretty impressive.

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
There's a bunch of people in this thread that say Feliz is worthless, yet p2k makes it a point to call out me and when I say he's bad its trolling and hating. I'm certain that you simply overlooked the other posts in this thread which falsely claimed Feliz wasn't elite because you hadn't ranted on about them hating. Therefore I pulled them up for you.
Florida signed Jorge Cantu. Just because he's on my favorite team doesn't mean I felt the need to start a thread and proclaim him as awesome. And if you don't think Jorge Cantu is an all-world player, then I wouldn't call you out for hating because it's true. I can recognize truth, even if it means saying someone on my favorite team isn't amazing. Others should try that.Last edited by dkgojackets; 01-29-2008, 09:58 AM.Comment

Re: Pedro Feliz signs with the Phillies
I don't think any of the Phillies fans were declaring Feliz as a great player. When you consider what we put out there at 3B last year, yes, Feliz is an upgrade. That's a testament to just how bad our offensive production from 3B was last year.Comment
