What IGN described cannot be deemed as a few rough spots. We all were expecting a few rough spots, but not the calamity that IGN believes the fielding is.

The game got an 8.5 overall so obviously it is not a train wreck. I think the point the reviewer was trying to make is that the sort of things he described happen (how often?) in MVP- but that sort of obvious screw up (I am assuming) does not happen in WSB and has not ahppened in any HH or ASB games I have played this year. So I think his position is that compared to the other games out now MVP has some obvious errors that keep it from being the best game out there. Rookie mistakes I think he called them.Comment

I have a sneaky suspicion that the review is based on a beta copy, and that the score is inflated to reflect that fact (as an ***-covering move)
Plus, it's no secret that IGN are two steps shy of being WSB fanboys.

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
Its just hard for me to fathom this being true....simply because this game by EA's admission has been in development for about a year and-a-half. They test these games suposedly for hundreds of hours and test every aspect of the games. I find it hard to believe that upon playing this game for many hours that they would think that something as devastating as this would be pleasing to the consumer. I mean after all the whole point was to revamp their baseball series ffrom the debacle that Triple Play had turned into the last 3-4 years. I hopethat this review was from a BETA version or something, b/c if not looks like theres gonna be some upset people including myself.

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
very good point stoncold...they retooled live last year and although it had problems, it didnt have anything comparable to what ign claims mvp to have..this type of error in a game isnt made by an acclaimed producer..im expecting it to happen, but not to the extent to which they claim.. as far as them review an incomplete build, it could be true, considering they dont mention the new camera angles, but it doesnt seem likely, ign has been known to cling to the testicles of sega sports, so who knows...lets just keep our fingers crossed and hope that there was some of this going onYou can put it on the BOARDDD!!!!

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
I don't know guys, I've been watching all of the movies and I just don't see these "wacky" fielding glitches. I am an insider at IGN, but I learned long ago not to take their reviews too seriously. I just like to read about the features and check out the movies, etc.
IGN never has been that good at evaluating sports titles anyway, actually not many sites are, that's why we have OS! These guys won't be playing these games after they review them becuase they keep waiting for HALO 10 and Splinter Cell updates. Both great games, but when it comes to sports titles, sports fans are usually the better judge.
It is my feeling that they play a couple games of WSB and are enamored with the gloss is has and that's about it. They don't play it enough to feel the "deja vu" effect after a few weeks when every game feels and looks the same. I think they took the 85% build of MVP saw a bug or two, which all games have and made sweeping statements. I mean look at the reaction it's getting from people just on here that say "That's it, I've changed my mind!" In a few days, we will all be posting the TRUTH about this game and then let history be the judge. But my gut tells me that after all is said and done, this game will be flat out FUN to play. After all being that it is a game isn't that the point?PSN: JISTIC_OS
