By the way, my apologies to the original poster. I thought I was looking at the WSB threads and posted the test I did on WSB last year and I remember I could groove every pitch to the CPU and it still couldn't hit. Again, my mistake as I don't even have MVP

I don't know ANY baseball game that "learns" from your habits. Every AB is a new experience. I tried this test and the CPU cranked off 12 runs. Yes, I did have some 1,2,3 innings, but if I want to win the game I want every advantage I can get and will not pitch this way. Either way, this test proved nothing.

it's worth mentioning that unless the XBox (in this case) is writing information to the hard-drive, such as data about where you tend to throw pitches or swing at pitches, then there is NO way the AI would be able to "learn" about you.

Now I know that's not true. I'm no game programmer, so I don't know exactly how it works, but from game to game, something like that could easily be stored the same place that all the other statistics are stored (memory card, etc.), and in-game, they should be able to use RAM. Try running the same play over and over in NFL2K3 and see where that gets you, heh.

It reminds me of my most played ONE PLAYER baseball game, the recently mentioned NES Baseball Stars. There was an easy way to strike out the CPU, which I avoided,leading to some very good ballgames. I'm not big on 1 Player, but it seems that it wouldn't be to hard to get around this flaw. At least it doesn't affect 2 player contests.
