So hilarious how many of you have already uploaded Cito avatars, like he is some savior or something. Bringing him back is a joke.

True, it's a nostalgia thing. But is it a joke? Who knows. I say give Cito a chance. They had to do something, Gibbons surely wasn't the man anymore.

        Re: CITO'S HOME!!!!!!

This is just a stalling tactic for JP but Cito is a great guy. It seemed like the game kinda passed him by when he was the hitting coach last time. Well not really it's more like his people skills passed him by. (read Cito vs. Shawn Green) but I think the Jays team as currently constructed is a good fit for Cito.

Hm Gene Tenace as hitting coach? Blah, Too bad Cito couldn't snag Barfield or Muliniks.

I know this was a stop gap measure but a part of me hopes this works and Cito will stick around long term.

It's called hope, this year has already gone to hell - so anything to bring the morale back is good.

So laugh all you want, I could really give a ****.

What's next? Bringing back Tim Johnson and letting him tell everyone he fought in Operation Enduring Freedom?

Why do you want JP to go? He's done a great job as GM, and has practically re-built the farm.
Uh, outside of Travis Snider, their farm still sucks.

Man... as soon as a team gets on a losing streak, everyone cries "It's time to re-build!"

                JP is awesome.

On a side note, what year is this, 1993? Gaston is back, and Fletcher is the Leafs GM?
                Dude this isn't sarcasm right?

Typically when you have a GM on the job for 7 years you should see some success. The best we've seen so far is one season in 2nd place in the AL East and that wasn't good enough for the playoffs.

Take last season when JP signs Thomson and Ohka and thinks that would've fixed our pitching staff. It was a joke.

And yes, like JJLinn said our farm still sucks. All those years of drafting "safe" college guys who were low-risk, low-return players really screwed the farm. Outside of Snider we have no great positional prospects.

A great GM? He hasn't been able to get the team into the postseason. He wasn't able to do it on a limited budget, and he hasn't fared well since Rogers opened the piggy bank either. The GM the Jays need is a guy who is going to find a way to get them into the postseason without making AL East excuses. Did you see when he tried to sign Thomson and Ohka last year to solve pitching woes?

A lot of the positives from JP were accidents of fate. If the Jays didn't have so many injuries last year/had sucky starters then McGowan and Marcum would still be toiling in the minors/in the bullpen and Litsch would still be in AA or AAA by now.

JP has had more 3B in his tenure then the entire history of the franchise, brought in guys who keep getting injured and has embarrassed himself with his big fat mouth. Oh and need I mention the fact that he's a classless jerk who fires people when they don't deserve to be (Nick Barnett and Mickey Brantley)

JP has basically pissed on the reputation the franchise built up and now the Jays are "just another organization".

I missed the part where Toronto has a farm system. They have one of the worst farm systems in the majors

At the very least the Jays farm system has produced good pitching so in that vein it has done well.

^ Yup. Position players wise, we've been awful under JP's regime but he did draft McGowan, Marcum, and Litsch I believe.

The unjust criticism Gaston used to get from McCarver, Costas, McDonough & others I think was the start of my waning love for baseball. There was only one reason for him to be continually 2nd guessed even when his decisions turned out correct. Back-to-back titles even when he didn't want to be the manager.
